However, lost in all the negativity over Miami’s Swiss Cheese secondary and somewhat mistake-prone run 'D' is the emergence of a quality that will often tip the balance in a defense’s favor -- the ability to generate turnovers.

Give it a quick read and let me know what you think. Thanks!

good read.

teams that parcells are a part of generate turnovers - which has saved us on so many occasions this year. turnovers are the difference in winning or losing close games. if we got consistent pressure on the qb that turnover differential would be even more in our favor.

Well said, although I would add that it's Miami's ability to avoid turning it over (first in the NFL with just 10 turnovers) that has trumped our ability to create turnovers (middle of the road with 20 turnovers generated).

I think a couple of the interceptions yesterday were 99% Bulger being awful but it was really nice to see our secondary players finally making teh catches that they should.

exactly. we arent creating that many TO.

Well to be more precise, we are creating a lot of turnovers compared to the beginning of the season.

Heck, we got 3 yesterday. That ain't half bad.

yes, the past 2 weeks yes. but, are they running into dumb luck or what? well see, im more inclined to believe the dumb luck part.

to say we 'created' them isn't correct. they were all handed to us, on a silver platter no less.

two bulger threw right at the LBs and the other Bulger overthrew his guy. Bulger created the turnovers, we just thankfully had guys there for once.

He was given all day i thought ... They were blitzin well in the 1st half of the game on 3rd down but towards the end of the game i didnt see much pressure. Thankfully he threw some bad passes and guys made plays!
Also
I thought the fins played 2 conservative towards the end on offense... to let the game rest on the defense... But hey it worked out ;)

i would disagree on the Akin int he got up and took that pass, made a nice return too. That would have been 2 feet above zach's head.:)

I get so demoralized when I hear stuff like this..

In the NFL, there's no such thing as a cheap turnover, even on plays that appear to be "on a silver platter." As a Dolphins fan, you should know that better than most. Just think about how many of those "silver platter" type balls were dropped early in the season. That's one of the key differences between a ball-hawking defense and a crap defense; securing the "easy" turnovers.

Also, as was mentioned in another post, the Ayodele interception was no gimme. He broke off covering the tight end, fooling Bulger into making the throw. A lot of linebackers would have continued sliding with the tight end.

Goodman's interception was also no gimme. He was in single coverage and completely out-dueled the receiver. He also made sure to secure the football, ensuring that St. Louise wouldn't get any more chances for a miraculous comeback win.

Had he and his cohorts done the same against Houston earlier this season, this team would be 8-4.
