So far this season we have had some players step up and others just slide down.

First the good News

1-Chad Pennington- Combine mistake free football with great accuracy and you have a winning combo. Too bad we have such a putrid group of receivers but that only makes his play look even better considering the cast. 98 Qb rating, we have not had that kind of success since marino.

2-Kendell Langford- i still think longterm merling will be a better player but starting over Merling and the overpriced Starks is a pretty good rookie achievement for the small school player. has 2 sacks and has been around the ball alot.

3-Greg Camirillo- Still not a huge fan of him as a starter but he seems to be the only reliable option in our wasteland of receiver. leads team in receptions and is the only wr to score a TD.

4-Anthony Fasano- Has shown to be a good blocking Te as advertised but his receiving ability has really been refreshing. He is already having a career year.

5-Joey Porter- Still not a fan of Porter but he has done some major damage on the pass rush. The moster game versus NE was a thing of beauty. i thought he was very average last year and so far he has shown he still has alot to offer.

6-Ronnie Brown- Still not on that silly bandwagon that wants to proclaim a player elite without enough results but he is doing damn good especially considering he had an ACL injury last year.

7-David Martin- I would probably be ready to cry if he was our starter but as the second TE he has truly stepped his game up. Dont like hinm as a blocker but he has improved in that area.

Now the bad news.
1-Andre Goodman- After hearing many good comments on this guy since he was signed I really have never seen much to get excited by. he has been horrible to say the least and is a big reason that teams have been able to make the big play on us when given time.

2-Ted Ginn- Any gamebreaking receiver that is averaging 8 yards a catch and an invisible game of 1 for -1 is a dissapointment. make all the excuses for this guy you want but he needs to step up and make plays.

3- Ernest Wilford- This was supposed to be the tall, sure handed guy that would make Ginn a better player. His blocking was supposed to make him invaluable. Well he has one catch for 15 yards and has done nothing towards earning that overpriced salary, while other free agents elsewhere have performed much better.

4-Derek Hagan- for all the talk of his improvement in the offseason, he cannnot he be on the active sqaud now on game day. I always though Hagan had good potential but when ok receivers like Bess take your spot then you are not very good. He actually has regressed.

5-Special teams as a whole- Once again we think that we have spent wislely on special teams and once again our special teams is not good.

6-Paul Solai- Wasnt he drafted to groom as our future NT. Well so far he rarely does much on the field and thats with the intention of rotating players. I dont see him here after this season, he just seems to lack motivation.

7-John Beck- let me see you go from starting some games as a rookie to barely playing in preseason. Whether you like him or not . This is not want you want to spend second round picks on.

8-Any fullback on our roster- Is it that hard to find a solid FB. I guess it is.

Good list. Additionally I was gonna suggest the play of Satele as an additional plus, but then realized you're referencing pleasant "surprises," and certainly on the basis of last year, Samson's good play would fall more within the "fullfilled positive expectations category." But I would add Roth as a positive surprise in his new LB role.

I agree on roth and could add cobbs for at least contributing.
I hope roth makes the transition and becomes better, I think its good to keep as many good players that we develop as possible. Just another reason I want to resign Crowder.

I would agree with most, but did we really expect more from Goodman? We knew coming in that the FO had not address the DBs. He is just playing as expected...

Also, based on last year...I expected nothing from Soliai. He actually played a little last game and actually was in on a couple of plays...he is actually a little better than I thought he was last year...this may be a difference in expecations for this guy, as I didn't expect "jack" from him.

Well said. :woot:

I do love how Camarillo gives 100+ % every time he is out thier and Ronnie is a Beast.

I never liked the Solai pick but considering he has been active I expect something from him.

actually Paul Solai has been playing more and more if you haven't notice. He was pushing the oline backwards when we went to the 4-3.

Long has been a nice pick too giving up only 1 sack and 2(? i believe) total penalties in 5 games, and is a beast in the running game.

true but Long playing well does not suprise me in the least.

Soliai did have some decent plays against the Texans, though I do not believe that we shifted into a 4-3 at any point. We might have been in a nickel or dime alignment, though.

What strikes me most is that in each good news bullet point except for #4, you have some negative wording in there.

Get a clue moron's. Soliai is far from a disappointment, he's Ferguson primary backup and the coaches continue to say good things about him.

He's also a part of our short yardage defense.

I am glad he's on our team. This suspension has been his only negative so far.

he's definately a disappointment. His 2 tackles and 3 last season sure are helping us win games. He is Ferguson's back-up because he couldnt win the starting job (something he was drafted to do) and Sparano knew he count on him to be a starter...

Suspensio only negative sign? You also do not consider his showing up to TC overweight and out of shape 2 years in a row a good sign?

In my eyes, he has been a disappointment. Will he turn it around? I sure hope so...

John Beck as a disappointment? When they signed Pennington we knew he wouldn't play, so off the bench you're expecting what exactly?
