Just got back from a trip to Beantown and the game.
Since there has been so many fan Dolphin fan bash threads the last couple of seasons on here I really made a point to watch the Pats fans at the game.

The game lead to some interesting observations and I'd like to add some insight to those that like to continually berate our fans as "the worst in the league".

1st: Leaving early

Patriot fans starting leaving in noticeable numbers with 10 minutes left in the game, with the game still up in the air.
They started leaving in droves with 6 minutes left and with a little under 2 minutes left in the game the stadium was half empty.

2nd: Crowd noise and sitting

The Pats crowd made an effort to get loud a whopping 6 times during this game. When they did, it was nothing to write home about. It was no louder than Dolphins stadium gets and IMO it was weaker than Dolphins stadium can get when fans decide to turn it up. The crowd stood and cheered about 4 of that 6. The rest of the time they all sat on their arses and watched the game. A couple of times I heard a fan yell for another Pat fan to sit down.

I thought those that start those BS fan bash threads claimed this only happened in Miami.

3rd: Booing your own team

Patriots fans booed the Patriots 4 times during a game where they NEVER trailed.

2 times in the second Quarter the team was boo'd.
once when they had a 3 and out in the second and as the half ended the Pats fans were boo'ing loudly.

3rd Quarter after the first drive 3 and out Pats fans boo'd and a Pats fan in front of me proclaimed that "Brady sucks". Yes that's right, the most celebrated QB in the game was proclaimed a loser because of one 3 and out drive.

4th Qtr.
With a little over a minute left, the remaining Pats fans boo'd the team for kneeling down instead of trying to score again. That's right, Pats fans boo'd a team that had just clinched it's 4th win in 5 games!

Am I trying to say that Pats fans are "the worst fans in the league"?

Hardly, I'm trying to point out that things like this happen in any fan base. Some people left early, some people stayed till the end. A good number of fans decided to boo while others decided not to. Some people wanted to scream the entire time the Dolphins held the ball while many more chose only to yell a few times the entire game.

It dosen't just happen in Miami and for those of you thinking of typing out yet another Dolphin fan bash thread in the future, you should chew on this a little.

In my experience Philly Fans are the worst to deal with because the always support their team, I would have to say Arizona fans are the worst though as they dont even bother showing up.

I've been there many times and know what you mean. The most frustrating thing that happens to me when I go to Foxboro is many pats fans like to tailgate right up until or even slighty after kickoff. Basically you are constantly standing up and sitting down to let people into your row or have people standing up in front of you for like the entire 1st quarter. I can't beleive they shell out 90+ bucks for a ticket and sit down with 2 minutes to go in the 1st.

In Miami, an observation from being at the games and watching it on TV, it's the 3rd quarter that aggravates me the most. WHERE DOES EVERYBODY GO. It's like 40 or 50 thousand people go have like a sitdown meal at halftime and don't return until the middle to the end of the 3rd quarter.

You bring up a great point and the halftime food runs at Dolphins stadium are a huge problem.

The fans all headed for the concessions during halftime in Gillete but what I noticed is a much and I mean much more efficient concession staff in that stadium. I hate to say it but the employees at Dolphin stadium are complete crap and are a major reason fans can't get back for the 3rd Qtr. I had food within 8 minutes in a line that had been 12 people deep. In Dolphins stadium I can't count the amount of time I've been in line for over 20 minutes with the same size line.

its just the spoiled nature of miami fans that aggrivate the mess out of me

Again, it's not just Miami fans, it's a nature that is found in all fan bases.

If I lived in Miami I would probably spend most Sundays at the beach....especially if it is 90 degrees out....can't blame the people in Miami for wanting to do stuff besides football.

If I lived in Miami I would spend all my time INDOORS, If i spent even 5 mins in Miami Sun I would turn into an apple. Still, they have Saturday to do other things, Sundays for Football.

Your right... I was there and your exactly right. AND that is the ONLY home game for them in the month of October!!!!
But I don't blame them for leaving early, traffic is awful on Route 1 next to the stadium. So spoiled.... the booing was ridiculous.... I think it was 4th down and they didn't go for it, so they boo?
NE fans are a joke, there is no enthusiasm for football in the Northeast at all....college or pro, not like it is in the midwest, southwest, southeast....and when Belichek "the genius" gets some losing seasons under his belt, they'll be wanting him gone.

That's one of the reasons I'm always frustrated at Dolphin Stadium is the concession and the bathroom facilities aren't up to par with other stadiums. You might think it's dumb, but try getting something to eat, and then going to bathroom in 12 mins in Miami, and if you are a smoker like I am, going out to the designated areas. I always try to go out at least a min before half if nothing good is going on and still dont make it back for start of 3rd quarter. I've been to the old Foxboro Stadium twice to see the Fins lose both times. Getting out of that stadium was hell I remeber, don't know how it is at the new Gillette Stadium.

One thing I noticed was that they have a lot of I guess "open seating" at the end zones for general audience I figure. I think Tampa has that on that ship they have on the stadium. How was the facility in general compared to Dolphin Stadium? State of the art high-def screens I heard they have also?

i solved that problem by not getting up at halftime. the lines are to long i just wait for a vendor to come by. just stuff yourself full of wings and brats before the game and you wont need to eat. they also have allowed us to bring in a couple of water bottles as well

Well the Pats fans have just visited the top of the roller coaster three times in the last five years, and now the ride is slowing down, and maybe coming to a stop alltogether. Who would want ot get off? It's gotta be tough to face after being the best for so long, all you got left are the memories, and it's back to hoping your the last one of 32 teams at the end of January if things would just go right.

I'd love to have their problems. Of course it seems we do have their problems, just minus the recent dynasty run. :boohoo:

I heard the boos, on TV...I even remarked on them in the game thread in the VIP forum....twice I heard them.

I LOVED that sound.
