So many football fans have taken 2007's 1-15 season as their chance to bash Miami I'm sick of it.

I have a long running fued with a Jack-Hole Dallas Cowboys fan on another message board and for a team who hasn''t won a playoff game since like 1996 I'd say Dallas fans have no room to bash Miami.

I think 2007 was a fluke, a one off.

There were so many mistakes that happened to lead to last years dismal record.

It started with Cam Cameron in the off-season trading Wes Welker, releasing Randy McMichael, Kevin Carter, Sammy Morris, Travis Minor and not replacing those starters or depth in the draft or free agency.

Miami lost 6 games by 3-points each last year, could have VERY easily been 7-9 last year.

Trent "Scrambled Eggs" Green lost a couple single handedly (Dallas game and his 5 turnovers) I never thought he was the right choice for QB.

I'd say 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 is reality for Miami in 2008, they will be more than competitive this year and WITH a top tier QB would be double digit wins and playoff bound.

Then as the Giants showed last year anything can happen, the best team in the NFL last year wasn't the Super Bowl winner, I think most would agree.

They won the big game when it counted but if you matched the Giants and Pats 10 times that Win to Loss ratio would be lopsided in the Pats favor.

The Saints went from 3-13 to 13-3 with Drew Brees in one season, so theres your proof it can and already has happened before.

I am so ready for football and I hope miami can at least play competitive football and 8-8 is attainable in my opinion.

Maybe what goes around comes around and some of last years "bad Karma" will result in some wins being pulled out that didn't go our way.

I'm ready for some revenge on the Phin haters.

First off the saints were 10-6 not 13-3. The Dolphins are going to be the brunt of a lot jokes until we start winning games. Frankly, we deserve it after that horrendous season.

We've got a lot holes in our defense. Our secondary is not good. If JT doesn't play for us we have no legitimate pass rusher. We drafted some run stoppers but that doesn't mean they will be starters and productive. There are a lot of unknowns.

As much as it pains me to say I think any talk of a double digit win season is wishful thinking, and not reality.

That's a lame argument. I've seen it used far too often on this site, as a dismissal of '07.

The NFL is tightly contested by definition. Always has been. That's why you have only one unbeaten team, and only one winless team in modern history.

Why should we be alloted every one of those 6 games as wins? Even if we split them, much more realistic, then we're a pathetic 4-12.

FootballOutsiders.com has an "estimated wins" column based on stats. I have some problems with it, some weighting that I think is imperfect, more of a backfitting setup than properly estimating likelihood based on stats going into the game. Regardless, it's a specific number and they spit out 4.1 wins as deserved for Miami in '07.

So the 7-9 is nonsense. That would have been a fluke in the other direction. I keep remembering how fortunate we were in the Baltimore game, a strangely conservative 4th down play at the end of regulation and then a yanked FG in overtime.

Regardless, we escaped '07 wonderfully. 0-16 would have been a stain. 19-0 for New England would have ripped the legendary status from this franchise as uniquely perfect.

Washington lost to the Patriots 52-7 last year, that was not competitive AT ALL.

Maimi (1-15) and Dallas (13-3) both lost to the Patriots last year.
Miami (48-29) (Miami outscored the Patriots 21-7 in the 2nd half, all in the 4th quarter)
Dallas (48-27) (Patriots outscored Dallas 17-3 in 4th quarter, Dallas was outscored 27-10 in the 2nd half)
Dallas in week 6 lost by 21-points
Miami in week 7 lost by 19-points

So these games played in consecutive weeks a common opponent, the best team in the NFL last season, at the end of the game Miami was still competitive while Dallas saw the lead increase.

Is that a yardstick of how "BAD" a team is by comparing a common opponent?

Shucks!

Wow! Thats funny! I wore a dolphins shirt today to the construction site and man, were the Dolphin haters out today! I just can't fathom it because I am originally from Pa where everyone worships the STEELERS! Down here everyones a hater! It's just sad with such a proud franchise! Anyhow, I got into it a few times with some Jets fans and they really think they are going far this season. The bottom line is going 1-15 I didn't have a leg to stand on. I don't know who to hate more the Jets or the CHEATERS! ZLet's just hope we can start to shut some people up this season! PLEASE!!!

The difference is Dallas was in the game entering the 4th quarter and we never were. In our game they pulled alot their starters. We were NOT AT ALL COMPETITIVE!

You completely leave out the fact that Dallas also spanked our butts. New England was the best team last year and one of the best in NFL history. They killed almost every team they played last season!

Based on your logic Baltimore would have been in AFC championship game.

The truth is the 2007 Dolphins were an imbarassment, and still have a long way to go!

No, the difference is the game got further out of hand for Dallas by being thoroughly beaten in the 2nd half 27-10 while Miami scored 21-points in the 4th quarter alone.

Which team was still fighting and which team gave up, was outmatched and outscored?

The 2nd half is what matters, 4th quarter is where games are won, unfortunately Miami was in too deep a hole but I like the way Miami fought............ I also like the way Dallas gave up too.

I understand where you are coming from, but at least get your facts straight. Cam didn't trade Wes. Muellar did. Second, Wes was gone anyway. He was a restricted free agent and the Patriots were going to offer him a poison pill contract. So let it go.

Absolutely correct. If I have my facts straight, we ended up getting Satele and Brandon Fields out of the Welker trade as well, so it appears to be completely worth it.

I think the Fins will bat .500 this year... if we are lucky, new coach, new coaching staff, ton of new players... this year is a rebuilding year and I expect us to be in the 10 for next years draft.

Fluke?

2004: 4-12
2005:9-7
2006:6-10
2007:1-15

Last season was the final straw of regime after regime attempting to apply band-aids to much bigger problems. The fluke was 2005. This team has been in need of a serious foundation overhaul for a half-decade, and we're finally getting it. We'll be bad for a little while, but when we get good, we'll be really good.
