Dolphins | Mularkey discusses offensive philosophy
Mon, 17 Apr 2006 20:13:25 -0700
Ethan Skolnick, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports new Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey is very comfortable implanting the "Dolphins System," which was created by his predecessor Scott Linehan, now head coach of the Saint Louis Rams. Mularkey, who brings more of a physical style of offense to the Dolphins, describes the "System" as having "a scheme philosophy and a how you attack philosophy." "I think how we attack; obviously, I have different ways of doing it than Scott." Mularkey specifically said when referring to a vertical passing game, "It's got to be in your arsenal, but I don't know if you going in thinking that's the only way we're going to win a game is we're throwing the ball downfield."

Dolphins | Capers excited by opportunity
Mon, 17 Apr 2006 20:14:51 -0700
Ethan Skolnick, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports Miami Dolphins special assistant Dom Capers is looking forward to his opportunity to just focus on being an assistant coach. Capers feels he can develop more close relationships with his players as an assistant rather than a head coach. He also thinks his eight-years of head coaching experience will serve the Dolphins well, "To me, experience is the best teacher for any of us."

Dude is this the only thing we are gonna know till the draft!

Here we go again with this ***** ****

I cant believe what Im readin does this mean he wants to turn out offense into what it was for the last five years before this last one, Boring!!!!! Running like 40 times a game and throwing one bomb a game. This guy just failed miserably with the bills and he had a running offense with the steelers. I hope he doesnt mess our rythem up on offense. I think we finally devoloped one at the end last year, lets start from scratch and also get boring!

we werent last on offense last year and we wont be this year

I actually love our Offense last year

Towasrd the end we kicked ***, I just want this guy to take our vertical game from us, I hope we dont become a running only team

What I got from this article is that we are going to have a more balanced offense next year. Wanny ball was running on first and second and then forcing Feidler to make a play on third down which we all know how that turned out. We are not going to come out throwing the ball deep on every play, because we will not win most of our games based on that. We will have one of the best if not the best running teams in the league next year with Ronnie( hopefully Ricky) and Daunte in the backfield. And a quarterback with a arm to strecth out the defense when need be. Defenses are going to be on their toes with this balanced offense. More time on the field means our defense will be rested and then this will put us in a position to win more games then passing every down. It desn't play to our strengths to do one more over the other

Well I will probably get slammed for this, but I for one welcome a change. I feel like come playoff time offense with the idea of pass to open the run doesn't work. In bad weather up north in the dead of winter you have to be tougher and able to run between the tackles even when they know you are running.
The 72 fins averaged 211 yards a game on the ground, and only passed when they had to. They might have been boring but they got the job done.
I am not saying we shouldn't be balanced, but we were passing down in the redzone last year and it cost us two separate games.
Minnesota had great regular season stats, but how many SBs did they win?

good runners, but will there be any holes for them to run through

Based on how our running game picked up at the end of last year, and how the line bought into Houck's philosophy I would hope so

With the line working together as a unit for another whole offseason and training camp with the players we have why can't we be any better than last season.

I agree...if we put more emphasis on the running game teams are gunna do all the more to stop our running game. Last year our O-line had the advantage over the D-line because we kept them off guard not knowing it was gunna be a run or pass, that is a huge advantage for an O-line. And us being pass first offense also helped our O-line alot.
This is one of the reasons I want Ricky back so bad because he will be more effective than Ronnie in a more smash mouth attack.

I think we will be fine with play calling. We need to run the ball and do it effectively. The more you run the ball well, the more you wear out the opposition's defense and keep thier offense off the field. It helps keep them honest as well.
