Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington is entering this year's training camp with as much confidence as he's ever had.

He's coming off a '08 campaign where he threw for 19 touchdowns and 3,653 yards -- just a few individual season stats that were at or near career bests -- and was a major factor in leading the Dolphins back to respectability in the NFL.

It's also the second straight year Pennington's been able to spend the offseason training rather than rehabbing an injury. The difference was clear a year ago. He expects things to be even better this time through and he points to the influence of longtime trainer Charles Petrone as the main reason for his improved performances. Pennington and Petrone first started working together when Pennington was in high school.

"After the 2007 season in New York I had a chance to sit back find out who I was as a professional football player and who I was as a person," Pennington said. "On the professional side, I went back to some people who helped get me to where I am, and Charlie was the first guy I thought of.

"We sat down and talked and immediately felt like we needed to develop a full annual plan that would take me through the offseason leading up to training camp, and would then carry me through the season and all the way into the playoffs."

Great read. We wouldnt be squat without CP. He's buying henne development time as well as staying ahead of the pack. gentlemen we are blessed. I cant wait to see him explode this season.

Thanks man, good read, let's hope that all of the training translates to results on the football field.

the more i read about Chad P the more i like him. he's the ultimate pro. i hope he tears up the league and gets his due from the media, because not only that he's a great football player, he seemes like a really nice guy to. really happy that he's a Phin now and not a dreaded Jet. hopefully BP resigns him and he finishes his career as a Phin.

thats what im hoping that bp resigns him cuz he had a great year and if he comes out and has another great year i don't know how in the world we let this guy walk we lock him up let henne sit another 3-4 years look at leinart in arizona with kurt playing like that how do you let him walk it will be better for henne in the long run if he sits and learns all the ins and outs of this game.

right now,and it is very early in camp.penny is playing bad.the defense is better than last year.i wonder how he will play even against are defense?he will not make it through the season.he will not handle the pressure.teams will be taking the attacking role the ravens did.we play very good defenses this year.we need a strong arm ,quick release qb.we have one .its just not chad p,its chad h.
