Perhaps a huge key to the game this weekend is the all important Giveaway / Takeaway statistic. Coaches will tell you games are won and lost right here.

Dolphins are -3 in total.
Offensively, they have fumbled 4 times and been picked off 3 times.
Defensively, they have forced 1 fumble and picked off 3 passes.
They have 1 TD as the result of forced defensive turnovers.

Saints are +9 in total (leds the league)

Defensively, they have forced 4 fumbles and picked off 11 passes.
They have 3 TD's as the result of forced defensive turnovers.

This will be an important element in the game Sunday.

Forgive me if im wrong, but didnt we return a INT for a TD against buffalo.
Also, a more improtant stat is in out last 4 games we have only turned the ball over three times and none in our last 2 games... Hopefully we can continue that trend

Unfortunately we have have to do a better job of creating turnovers.

we definitely have to protect the football... Darren Sharper scares me the most over any other player on the saints... Moreso than Brees

Darren Sharper scares me the most over any other player on the saints...

Sharper has 5 picks for 275 yards and 2 TD's already this season.

Last week he returned another against the Giants for 70 yards and a TD, but it was called back for a late hit on Manning after the pass was already released......

Sharper is playing some of his best football right now at Safety.

Right now he is a lock for DPOY

anyone know why Sharper being so good of a coverage S is never kept on one team? does he suck at tackling? discipline within the coaches system? There has to be a reason why he always gets released or not given a new contract.
the guy always comes up with INT but never comes up with a long term deal or a decent deal with one club for a long term.

I think it has more to do with his age than anything else.. He produces everywhere he goes, then coaches feel he is done and cant perform the following year so they release him, then he gets picked up and produces all over again.. I cant think of any other reason as to why he keeps getting released..

The Saints are +9 in the turnover ratio because they have played against a lot of garbage QB's... Stafford in his first game, Kolb in his first game, along with Mark Snatchez and Trent Edwards..

Not exactly hard to create turnovers when those are the types of QB's you are facing week in and week out. The Saints defense has gotten a lot of gifts by crappy QB's.

We faced Trent Edwards too and picked him off 3 times.. We had two INT's from Mark Sanchez, but we dropped those two (but they were there).

Moreover, Miami hasn't given up a turnover in their last 2 home games (our last 2 games overall as well).. Not that I remember off the bat. We haven't really given the ball away at home this year.

What makes the stat look bad is that we gave up 4 turnovers and got none during week one in Atlanta in the dome.

Overall Miami has played very well at home this year.. Not giving up the ball at home and playing much more efficient football at home... In the 3 home games Miami is averaging 31 points of offense per game. And 400 yards of offense per game.

The Saints collected 3 turnovers last week against the Giants.
Garbage....I think not.

Losing the turnover battle has been the biggest change from last year (+17). If we can step it up we can make another playoff run like last year.
