Dolphin Trio getting some pressure.

This proves why the draft is such an inexact science.

Take Crowder for example - prototypical line backer. He is about 6'2, has good speed and strength....

But the problem he faces is not his intelligence (1350 SAT, 3.5 + gpa, Honor student at UF), but rather, he just doesn't have that drive that the special players do.

Notice how he just listened, and really relied on Zach Thomas to do all the work, and EVEN then, he could not make a damn play. Now, he is probably crapping his pants - it being a contract year and all. Now he's called upon to probably make the calls, and I bet you he'll lose that responsibility to Akin.

Sad. All the potential in the world, and I want to see the kid have a monster year, but he just lacks the heart.

Maybe not heart but just a good DC, system or some good sorrounding talent. Think about this, he started as rookie the last 8 games of the year and has been a starter ever since. He can only get better as a starter and to judge him off last year would unfair because the whole team had a bad year. I know you remember when he jacked up that Atlanta fullback or when he popped Larry Johnson one on one or when he sacked J.P. Losman for a ten yard loss. He's got talent he just needs the right defense to showcase it.

Pretty fair statement to date, lets see if this new coaching staff has the ability to open his eye's. As with Beck, it will be up to Crowder to make this team and contribute, no one else.

he's had the surrounding talent and tuteledge. this guys has played next to zach, junior, and joey. can't do much better than that. time for him to own it.

i just think last year was a total nighmare in terms of evaluating players based on last year's performance. crowder's stock was rising hard until last year. dolphin fans were fighting each other off to see who could get on thier knees for him.

then came last year. zach was out for the most time he's ever gone out for. time for channing to step in and alleviate the worries. but alas, he didn't impress. but i think he didn't impress because the DL couldn't block anybody, and channing was stuck trying to avoid blockers and take direct paths to the ball carrier; two completely conflicting ideas. so what do you do? do you take on that 300 lb blocker head on, or do you take a circuitous route to the ball carrier and make the tackle? who knows. people can and will think what they want. i think he has the talent and his instincts can't do anything but get better. he doesn't make a ton of money and he is the only starting ILB on our roster. we need him, either way.

I find it amazing that Crowder had a 1350 on his SAT. This is the same guy who didn't know where England was or that there were black people there. Didn't anyone else see that interview before the Giants game last year?

No offense against the guy, I hope he really is smart. I know he has the ability, I've just questioned his mental game. That 1350 threw me for a loop.

He was making a joke with the whole England thing. Truthfully, I found it pretty funny.

tell jason to kiss our you know what if he want to behave this way

Channing Crowder == Morlon Greenwood.

The size and speed are there. Neither makes big plays. Both are/were marginal starters. Morlon moved on for decent money and fizzled. Maybe the light goes on for Crowder with a new coach and no Zach. It's not a good bet though.

I know Channing has the athletic ability, I just question the upstairs part which was where Zach excelled...

He does have a fairly bright football sense but He has trouble with the fundamentals of tackling . Always tackling too high never goes low and wrap those arms around the runners legs ...Tackle high forward Mo always an extra yard or two

Roth and Allen sure havent shown much during there NFL careers and if they dont start producing fast they better be out-a-here!

Crowder definitely has all the tools and has played consistantly his 3 years in the NFL, it will just be interesting to see how he does with Zach gone now.
