Charles Rogers was among three players who worked out for the Dolphins Tuesday.
Nick Saban loves taking on other coaches' problems. Craphonso Thorpe, Rasheed Marshall and CB Joseph Jefferson also worked out for the team.

I would like to see Rogers on the team and he would add even more firepower to an already explosive offense.

Nice.... i think we'll pickup Rogers but I'm not gunna expect anything from him this season. Man what a steal this guy could be tho.

Folks this guy got CUT from Detroit. He was a very high #1 pick and they CUT him. Why do people think he will come here and be all pro. Listen to these words - he was CUT from Detroit!!

Do you like Wes Welker?

I'm just asking because in case you didn't know, he landed here after being "CUT" by San Diego........

It's called "change of scenery" and it does work for some players.

Aside from the obvious (Rogers), there are some interesting names here. Jefferson (drafted in the 3rd round in 02) played quite well and showed promise for the Colts, unfortunately he has had a whole host of injuries and I dont believe he has made it through a season without missing time. He has good size and can play both corner and safety. If they lose patience with someone like Lehan, and Jefferson can manage to pass a physical, he'd be a worthwhile pickup.

As for Marshall and Thorpe, they're both good athletes who should still qualify for the practice squad, and i'd imagine thats what they're being evaluated for. Marshall was obviously the starting QB at West Virginia, he lined up at WR for the 49ers and returned kicks (although he put up pretty lousy numbers doing so). He has experience at corner and safety too, and could be viewed as a project there. Thorpe has good speed and was on the KC practice squad last year. Thorpe went in the 4th round last year, Marshall in the 5th.

well put

I like the sound of Saban turning Rogers around, he could be a big pickup for us if Saban can improve his attitude and get him off the booze. I'd certainly like to see it. Don't know enough about the other guys, but love that Saban is always on the lookout.

Not only that, but Tampa wanted nothing to do with him last week after their tryout with him. And Jon Gruden is a very good judge of talent. He said Rogers was downright awful

I'll pass on Rogers

Wasn't Rasheed Marshall (a former W Va QB) that tried to convert ot WR w/ the Niners & didn't Jefferson get drafted and not pan out w/ Indy?

I was thinking I saw that he tried out for Tampa...but today's story said this was his first and only tryout so far. I'm almost positive he tried out with Tampa.

Did Gruden really saw Rogers was "awful"? Link?

Wes was brought here as a rookie and he was a KR/PR specialist and we needed that at the time. We don't need Rogers, Rogers is also very injury prone which a change of scenery won't fix. I think Rogers is the epitome of the word Bust!! This is just my opinion ofcourse, but if Rogers can't surive the pass happy Mike Martz style O, he won't cut it here. You don't give up the #2 overall for nothing, unless he's worth nothing.
