Dolphins #31 in Pass Blocking

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/02/12/sig-stats-pbe-o-line-units/

Good read on Miami's pass blocking efficiency last year. Pretty much says the same e all saw. How the hell did Tannehill play well?

Oh well, it could be worse (said the optimist). We could have been #32.

I think this is one of the reasons I was upset with the playcalling on more than one occasion during the season. There were too many times when the running game was working when it was shut down just to pass the ball. In order for the offense to maximize it potential it needs to be more balanced and not try to rely too much on Tannehill.

Finish fixing the line. This will help the with the infamous deep ball issue as well.

Injury's dont help one bit...once we get Albert back we should be much better then last year

WHAT!!!!!!? I thought we were # 32............:idk:

Yet Tannehill is the issue with this team

The next time someone blames Tannehill for the Fins offensive woes I'll just redirect them to this article. Especially the part below.

The Titans and Vikings were the only teams to average more than two sacks per game. To make things worse, both teams attempted fewer passes than the league-median. The Dolphins allowed the most QB hits in the table below but were third-worst overall. Interestingly, the AFC Championship game featured the bottom two teams in terms of QB hits allowed, the Colts with 52 and the Patriots with a league-high 61. The Saints ranked 22nd in overall PBE but allowed a league-high 146 hurries. Unfortunately for the Dolphins and Vikings, they were the only two teams ranked in the Bottom 10 in all three sub-categories.

Sadly, not surprising at all.

Can Miami please get this up to #15 and at least give Tanne an honest chance to get a deep ball in the air!?

That's a knock on Lazor and Philbin and I'm afraid now with two OC's and we see the same thing, I'd put this unbalance and being in the lower 3rd of the league in rushing attempts two years in a row on PHILBIN. We moved from 37% run plays in 2013 to 40% runs in 2014. We need to be at about 43% in 2015 IMO but I expect we'll be in the bottom third running again.

HARD TO BELIEVE but, I actually missed Cog and Jerry (bad fits and all) at OG, and think RT did as well. Fits may be somewhat over-rated, just block the FRAKIN guy in front of you. Sounds like a Saint Vince solution.

This is from the comment section.

Obviously, having a quicker TTT (Time To Throw) leads to a better PBE (Pass Blocking Efficiency). There are exceptions:

– GB: 26th TTT, 2nd PBE: Rodgers is likely the explanation. A great QB can get the ball out quickly when the rush comes and hold it longer otherwise.

– DAL: 25th TTT, 5th PBE: Romo plus a very good OL is likely the explanation.

– NE: 3rd TTT, 20th PBE: With Brady getting the ball out so quickly this is definitely a testament to how bad his OL was.

– MIA: 11th TTT, 31st PBE: Ditto the above.

The Dolphins were better than average in time to throw but next to last in pass blocking efficiency...

I agree the Fins could be better balanced. The problem is though, if your interior line can't run block then what the hell are you supposed to do. The Fins choose to throw more because they know that is their best option to move the ball/score/win. They basically use the pass to set up the run, not vice versa. Just because you decide to run the ball more doesn't mean you are going to be more affective at it, especially when your interior line is one of the worst in the league.
