how old is will allen? he is decent, but nothing great, right? i mean we gave him a 4yr/$12mil contract...you are telling me they werent willing to give something like 3yrs/$9mil to madison?
wouldnt you rather have madison than allen? i dunno...unless allen is a lot younger??? just confusing to me
Atila, how old do you think Madison is? More importantly, do you KNOW at what age a player in a skill position like RB, WR and CB starts to MASSIVELY slow down? The moment they hit 30.
How old is SAM MADISON?
The way you talk, we should just go out and re-sign Dan Marino. I mean, he's still ALIVE, right?
Age in this game is an issue. Maybe not so much in BASEBALL. But in FOOTBALL, age is a major issue. People like WARREN MOON and JERRY RICE are absolute EXCEPTIONS to the rule. The rule is there for a reason. Now, does that mean that Madison will go out there and stink it up for the Giants this year? No. He'll probably play just as well as he would have here.
But he was getting beat here (Steve Smith in the Carolina Panther's Game and 2 different guys early in the BUFFALO comeback game that we won - The miracle game) and he wasn't getting any younger.
Saban has said that this defense had to get younger, that's why Lance Shulters won't be back with the team. I believe we're gonna draft a safety. If Lance hasn't signed by late April with another team we MIGHT resign him if we go another way draft day, but right now I belive that's gonna be our priority.
Also, don't believe SABAN's assesment that we're fine with out WR's and if we signed anyone it would be to complement what we have. The moment I heard that it was clear to me that we're targeting a safety and a WR with our first pick. SABAN is a sneaky guy, but that was obvious.
MADISON will play next year and then get released by the Giants. You just wait and see. And while ALLEN won't get voted to th pro-bowl, one season of working with the Dolphin's coaches will improve his game considerably, you wait and see. SABAN saw the raw tools that the kid had and realized an opportunity to STEAL a first rounder, coach him up and give us a cornerback fot the future.
Relax Kid, Saban is WAY smarter than you or me when it comes to dealing with this league. He made a great move. Once we sign a veteran DT and Offensive lineman we'll be ready for the draft. Saban is sending the "I'm gonna take the best player available" vibe out to the world so that when the 16th pick coms up some team in love with one player or another will offer him good value to trade down. SABAN has 3 picks of the first 128. The idea here would be to turn that number into 5 picks of the first 128. Trading down from #16 into the second round ion exchange for a team's 3rd and 4th round picks would be awfully tough for a savy talent evaluator like SABAN to pass up. Besides, once you get out of the top ten picks, picks 11 - 96 have about the same succcess ratio. So a second rounder is really no better than a third rounder, you just get to pick the guy first and pay him more. But if our first pick were a second rounder and then we had 3 third round and 2 fourth round picks (along with our 3 7th round picks - possibly more depending on what the leagu compensates us for losing Free Agents) then we'd have enough fire power to address positions where youth is imperative.
I feel that SABAN is positioning himself to do just that, with DENVER and SEATTLE as likely trade partners.
Madison is gone and these are a brand new MIAMI DOLPHINS.
Get on board, kid. No one expects SABAN to pay 3 million a year to a 30 year old corner.
GO PIHNS!!!
