Still need to fill the OC position.I thought Cameron would have had that filled before heading to the combine. Hopefully we have an OC before free agency starts.

Quality Control???

Can anyone tell me what a "quality control" coach actually does? I know a lot of teams have them and I've always been curious.

Since the OC is more or less going to be a figure head, I vote my AVATAR for OC...that way if the offense does bad, we will have the best looking OC in the league, and if it does good, then we just have an added BONUS!!!:D

I second that. It's a good way to keep fans in the seats in a bad game.

I guess we've got a lot of quality control guys. Whether we can get some quality talent is the issue.

The Dolphins named Marvin Marshall as an offensive quality control coach Thursday.

Marshall was an offensive assistant with the Chargers last season, where he worked with new Dolphins coach Cam Cameron.

In 2005, Marshall was an assistant to the wide receivers coach with the New Orleans Saints.

Ok, now we know who will be tucking the offensive players in at night during away games and walking cuts down to Cam during pre-season.

The quality control coach goes over tape of the oppossing side of the ball listing sets, fomations, motions, plays, etc. For instance, the offensive quality control coach watches hours upon hours of tape on the defense the team will be facing in the upcoming week and records data on everything from when a DT tackles lines up a certain way on a certain play to a DB dropping back a certain distance, everything and anything the defense runs to prepare the coaches and players.

Our OC this year will pretty much just be a title. Cam's calling the plays.
The OC will not just be a title. He'll actually be doing the duties of an OC sans the responsibilties of game day play calling and game management.

Thanks. I was wondering this too. I got the email from the dolphins today about this hiring, and thats the first thing i thought... what the heck is that?!?!

why cam makes his own calls he aint gonna let anybody else do it and nobody's gonna want the job for that reason. to be honest the team could announce next week that the new offensive coordinator is {drum roll please} none other than that infamous, mumified, horor buff the crypt keeper! and it wouldnt make any differance now would it?
