Anderson Rumors[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]...Rumors are spreading throughout the league that both the Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens will pursue Browns quarterback Derek Anderson in free agency if the Browns are unable to reach a deal with Anderson before the free agency deadline expires...the Brown will likely use the highest tender on Anderson which would force any team that signs him to surrender their first and third round picks in the 2008 Draft with the Browns having the right to match any offer on the table...rumors are spreading that the Dolphins who own the first pick overall will deal that pick to the Cowboys for both of the Cowboys picks in the first round, which is less than the value chart but agreeable to both teams...the Dolphins would then surrender one of their first round picks plus a third to Cleveland for Anderson...the Dolphins would then come away with Anderson but still have a first round pick in the Draft...it's a strategy that has been widely speculated throughout the league over the past few weeks.

The guy has no track record of consistency. He may be a one yr wonder. That is waaaay too much to give up for him, coupled with the fact that Dallas would be stealing the 1st overall pick from us. This would be an act of desperation on the Phins' part IMO and would be reminiscent of Spielman/Wannstedt.
I personally wouldn't give up more than a 2nd rounder.
This team has way to many needs and if Beck turns out to be a solid starter, then the move for Anderson would be unnecessary. I would rather get a veteran as a backup in FA and NOT surrender draft picks. Heck, I'd rather get Trent Green back.

That is way too much for a one year wonder when the weapons he had in cle. were better than what we have here.. not sayin he cant be consistently good, but thats just a big risk.

I don't like that deal..it would cost us too much in my opinion.

Lets consider the options....there's no QB worth taking in the draft in the first round...there's no other QB worth a hoot in free agency....there's not much in QB coming out in the 2009 draft...that would be a instant help...the deal makes sense. The Dolphins aren't going to be able to rebuild in one year...so whats the difference?

Exactly but people want a SB next year...

so ur suggesting we give up the #28 (pending a trade goes through) the number #64 and Tony Romo money for a QB who shined for one year?

do I have that right?

I'm not suggesting anything...it is what it is. If Parcells has faith in him as a starter...thats good enough for me.
We have tried numerous QB's...and have failed over the years...how much money and draft picks have we wasted...think about it.

it's all I think about!

well that and boobs.

Anderson is a one year wonder..... ONE YEAR!!!

I want more than the two ones for the #1 overall, I'll take less than the value chart but not that deal.

Let the Cowboys kick in a third as well, then we're only moving down 20 something spots for Derek Anderson, and keep the rest of the picks we had.

I dont like the deal, Anderson was great last year but there is no real track record there, we have a QB in Beck who its far too early to be giving up on. We're rebuilding, its going to take a while, I like Anderson but not at that price.

Thats possible Blue...nothing is set in stone.

Lets say the Dolphins trade for Anderson after they trade out of the first pick with Dallas...that leaves them with the 22nd, 32nd, 57 and 64th picks....they give up the 28th and Dallas's 92th for Anderson.

With the 22nd they could select DRC or Albert....with the 32nd they could select Groves or Otah, with the 57th they could select Cottam or Rubin and the 64th they could select Wheeler or Royal.

Of course depending on the free agents the Dolphins bring in...the draft would change alittle.
