Dolphins Alumni critical of current team

most of these guys are simply fans now. the game has changed and if they arent coaches etc. then they are just fans. you can point to guys like mandich who liked chad henne too, so its really irrelevant.

The title of this thread should have been ONE alumni is critical of current team.

Then there’s Fernandez, who bemoaned, “I don’t see the team progressing more. I’m not a big fan of Jeff Ireland. I haven’t thought much of his drafts or offseason moves. I thought they would hire Bill Cowher.

Nick and Manny are the same guy? News to me.

The Patriots really bolstered their team? With who??? Ocho Cinco?

So we should not develop young players and instead sign aging distractions???

GREAT PLAN!

Um, no Jim, this is not the Miami Hurricanes stadium, it is the Miami DOLPHINS stadium. The Dolphins ALLOW them to play there after they lost their stadium. Dolphins are doing them a favor.

In other news, I am heading down to Florida now to go to the game tomorrow. Getting on an Atlanta Falcons plane.

Have a blast and bring us a win............and no Hurricane threat to worry about.......

The alumni comments don't bother me, but they are a little harsher than I would have expected.

Not a huge fan of Ireland or Sparano, but look at what they did this off season:

- signed Reggie Bush- critical, especially for 1 on 1 open field match ups that we've blown at for years

- signed Kevin Burnett- same reasons above except on defense. crowder on coverage was a gaping wound, easy 3rd down conversion for opponents

- drafted Clyde Gates 4th rd- will prove to be critical imo, that needed deep threat, great on same offense with Reggie Bush

drafted Pouncy- needed stability at the underrated Center position. case in point- Vince Wilfork

I think that they made the right move sticking with Henne, we'll see. would've like to draft Gabbert or Ponder but the draft didn't break our way for that to happen.

The big question mark imo- and a lot of others- is the OL. If I knew that Carey was fading so badly I would have loved Carimi- at least, according to Confucious, we had Carimi ranked right up there with Ponder and Pouncy, which personally makes me feel better about their player evaluations. But not signing Brian Waters, dumping Donald Thomas, the John Jerry selection in hindsite- if the team fails because of the OL, with all the money thrown at that unit, with Sparano being an OL guy- wow, that's pretty bad.

Still, I'm pretty happy with the off season, I'm not as critical about it or as negative as some of the alums. So be it.

Can't really agree with him on free agency. You can see Burnett is huge upgrade from Crowder in about 3 plays. Reggie Bush showed more ability in one preseason game than Ronnie Brown in six years, he must have forgotten last year's version of Ronnie Brown. Also, I'll take Matt Moore over Thigpen and Rosario over Shuler/Haynos any day of the year

There not moving in the right direction I think there right up there with teams that made the most of there first round picks.

Classic picture of Selleck- reminds me of the good old days- Cheers, Taxi and Magnum PI on Thursdays and Monday Night Football- when it was really good with Howard Cosell, Don Meredith and Halftime Highlights. Back then the Dolphins on MNF was an event- not the same lately, especially since ESPN took over. Going back a bit further, I remember the CBS NFL pre game show when it was hosted by Pat Summerall and Tom Brookshire, had that ELO instrumental theme song. That and Rick Weaver on WIOD Dolphins play by play. Good stuff- Weaver was the best.

I agree with Ryan Brickshaw comments and would be extremly much happier with him as our starting half back and of course like much of the NFL universe someone else at RT outside of Columbo. Even with Columbo I could swallow it because I see alternatives outside of Columbo that are still available I just do not see that option at RB. Of course Ross wants a exciting offensive and his games at 4 pm so you get what you want sometimes even at the cost of winning. Of course Ross wants to fill the stands and outside of winning that does not happen at Sunlife stadium. Ross is clueless about doing it his way. Armando was certainly in the dark in the comment that having 1 pm games early does not help the Dolphins to win.

I am so tired of these former players complaining. They're not true fans and need to get with the program.

This.

My guess is that many of the Dolphin alumni don't pay nearly as much attention to the team as we fans do. Rather, they rely on the media...and we all know how the mainstream media feels about the Dolphins.
