Dolphins and Jake Scott still talking, both sides have mutual interest

The only two FA's I wanted to sign this off-season were Jake Scott and Reggie Nelson. I was little concerned about Scott's pricetag, but signing him will allow the Phins to draft OL projects like Rishawn Johnson or Adam Gettis in the late rounds instead of going for the Reiff's or Martin's in the first round.

I didn't know much about Richard Marshall before, but think he's a great consolation prize to Nelson.

Ireland is doing a great job. As much as people complain about the guy, he knows how to assess talent.

If he is better then Incognito that would be nice for RG. Jus dont know how they will get the money. I think hey need 5M for the draft and that leaves 2M left over to sign him. He would have to sign a one year deal or someone would need to be cut or restructured.

It wont be a Long restructure. Maybe A Dansby restructure or Fasano cut/restructure would make it happen. I dont think they will pay him 5M a year but maybe 4M a year is fair if he is top 10? Carey got a 6 year 42M deal so Scott may be looking for that which is about 5 to 7M a year.

They can just cut Carey's over paid butt to make the needed cap room. He is an instant upgrade over most of the guys we have.

How can they cut somebody who isn't even on the team?....

Thats exactly why I wanna get this deal done so it prevents us from getting another OL in the first round, I wanna focus on skill players, Ireland said today that Hicks/Murtha/Jerry/Garner will all battle for RT so that just leaves RG to be filled

I wouldn't trust a damn thing Ireland says . . . in fact, I'm worried now.

No big rush here, not like he has many teams calling him up. It's all about price Ireland is playing hard ball as he should no one else has made him an offer no reason to bid against yourself.

WHY Murtha?

Someone please f***ing tell me. I ask in every thread and no one ever gives a good reason. He's never shown squat. Jerry, yes

Wow this **** kills me...Both parties are interested...Give me a break!!

Unless Scott gets a serious payday he isnt coming.Honestly do you think Scott wants when we overpaid on Hicks?

Many have said that hicks can come in and start. If we sign Jake Scott, there will be a competition at the left guard spot between Incognito and Hicks, and at the right tackle spot between Murtha and Hicks.

Hicks has the ability to play both guard spots, as well as right tackle. Especially if an injury occurs on our offensive line - which is very possible because this is football - Hicks would be able to come in and not miss a beat.

Some of you just complain for the sake of complaining. These guys aren't signed just to sit on the bench. This is a team and going forward, this isn't going to be a team that is SOL if one player gets injured. You build a quality roster top to bottom so there is a guy to step up if any player is unable to perform their job.

I don't know if you guys realize this, but we will have EIGHT new players on this roster after the draft (give or take a couple). We have the potential to get several starters in this draft and some more players that will be able to flourish in a team effort.

Patience, young grasshoppers.
