If a player is allowed to sign a 3 year contract then after the first year ask for more money or "hold out", then absolutely the team should be able to ask a player to take a play cut.

Players ask for more money because they feel they outplay their contract.
Teams can ask them to take a pay cut when they suck or don't play worthy of their contract. Much like Ramsey last year

Personally, I would prefer both sides to just honor the contract, play through the contract and work on a new deal when the contract expires.

Grier said it wasn't about the contract. I don't know what to believe. I don't "trust" Grier, but a public statement like that is something you can't walk back if not true.

I initially thought it was about JR wanting future guarantees. Technically, yes that is a contract dispute, but there's grey area for deniability.

Packers/cowboys/chargers and commanders are teams with 25 million plus that might feel they are contenders. May have to restructure a contract or two but they are ball park.

Ramsey/Hill and 99 maybe a swap of our 2nd for their 2nd for their 1st wouldn’t be too off I’d imagine.

Ravens would be the best fit but only at 11 million would really have to go all in with restructuring but I have no idea how you’d stop an offense with Lamar/henry/hill and corner is their weak point of their defense.

I think the audience for a trade discussion with Ramsey is pretty limited due to his cap impact. Unless the Fins were willing to pay some of the $$, you are only talking about a handful of teams.

Still, anything is possible and there may be some movement here over the next few days as deals are made
 
I am holding firm that a trade is unlikely unless it's going to be a flip flop of picks in round 3
