I don't think this takes into account the "unlikely to be earned" incentives from last year. My understanding is they are about $10 million.

I wouldnt trust this article. There are way too many different numbers being presented by so many sources to begin with, and the Post doesnt help its image by getting the revenue % numbers wrong. Owners are offering 56.2% not 58 and players want 60 not 61 (though im sure theyd take 61). You would think this is a huge issue by now and a major paper would get the figures right.

I think Saban would get it this far under this quick considering his ruthless efficiency.

ESPN reported yesterday that the owners wanted 58% & the players wanted 61% & would probably settle at 59-59.5%.

Is that being $10M under the cap? If so great! If not, what happened?

Did you hear that on the channel or the site? I only got my CBA info from ESPN. I dont trust the local papers or especially radio. And i definitely wouldnt make up a number like 56.2 lol. I'm 100% certain I heard 56.2 and 60 from ESPN. Though its possible that from Tuesdays talks with the NFLPA that changed.

It was in Pastabelli's article last night but I see he updated that article this morning & changed those #s. So your #s are current.

Nublar can do a much better job of explaining this then I can. But my understanding is that if players earn these "unlikely to be earned" incentives, they are, they count against the cap for the following year. The "likely to be earned" incentives count against the cap in the current year. So when we had a great 2nd half of the season, several players earned some of these "unlikely" incentives, to the tune of about $10 million. So that money is counted against the cap for 2006. Basically lowering the cap by $10 million. So our cap is closer to $84.5 million instead of $94.5 million. I think that is why some reports have us under and some have us over. Make sense?

Thats what I was thinking in how ESPN reported us being the 21.9M over, and some other sources saying the 9M over - so yes, it makes sense. Whether my small theory there is correct or not, who knows. But what you said makes sense. Thank you.

I'd hope that we're 7 under and not 10 over after all the cuts...there's no doubt that we'll cut some more guys in the morning.

Ozzy rules!!
