Like most of us already figured, according to Football Outsiders, the Dolphins biggest weakness this year may be linebackers.

Unless multiple backups surprise in training camp, Koa Misi, Dannell Ellerbe and Philip Wheeler will start for the Dolphins again this season. Misi is a converted defensive end who has never lived up to his potential on the field no matter where he lines up. Ellerbe and Wheeler were both given big contracts by Jeff Ireland last year, but both proved to be undisciplined and technically deficient as starters.

Regardless of the revamped secondary and the hope that Cameron Wake will be fully healthy this year, the Dolphins simply can't feel good about their projected starters at the linebacker position.

They also think we may have picked up some undrafted free agent linemen who can contribute.

The Dolphins should feel satisfied with their efforts in undrafted free agency. They may not have unearthed any stars, but they brought in a number of players who could quickly develop into contributors. Like the draft itself, the undrafted free agent class is highlighted by two offensive linemen: center Tyler Larsen (Utah State) and offensive guard/tackle Evan Finkenburg (Arizona State). Larsen has the talent to develop into a reliable backup behind Mike Pouncey, while Finkenburg is an impressive athlete who played both right guard and left tackle in college.

a converted college de at mike lb...if this works we have found that rarest of rare exception...more likely we will be looking for a mike backer in 2015 that can play every down

Hoops if Rey Maualuga becomes available would you be interested?

not if we are gonna play the mike 3 downs...he's even more limited in space than misi is...pretty sure mauluga comes off the field on 3rd down...if he doesnt he should...2 downs while it's not ideal i think it's doable with misi...it will be interesting to see how coyle goes about this...there's gonna have to be some give and take if we go this route...

No offense Dolphin72, but to some people here every player that is not considered one of the top five players at his position "sucks".

Hopefully, another year in Coyle's system and they play a lot better.

Not Too Rare - ever hear of Teddy Bruschi??? Just saying

To be fair when has Misi "failed to live up to his potential"

I don't recall him being a highly graded draft pick and most thought it was a reach grabbing him. If anything I think he has slightly overachieved from the original expectations put on him. He's been a solid tackler for fins.

I'm among the VERY few who think Wheeler and Ellerbe will revert to how they played in 2012, which was good. We shall see.

Im of the opinion that their one good year is the exception to their multiple average to less than average years but Im a gambling man and that's how you win more than u lose
