For the second consecutive week, center Mike Pouncey, defensive end Terrence Fede and linebacker Jordan Tripp have been declared out of Sunday’s game on the first day teams are required to provide an injury report.

Pouncey, Fede and Tripp were among seven Dolphins players who did not participate in practice Wednesday in preparation for the game against the Buffalo Bills Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium. The others were linebacker Chris McCain (illness), linebacker Koa Misi (ankle), defensive tackle Randy Starks (toe) and guard Billy Turner (foot).

In addition, safety Walt Aikens (hand), tight end Charles Clay (knee), running back Knowshon Moreno (shoulder), defensive end Derrick Shelby (knee), tight end Dion Sims (neck), wide receiver Mike Wallace (hamstring) and linebacker Philip Wheeler (thumb) had limited participation.

For Buffalo, linebacker Keith Rivers (groin) and tight end Lee Smith (toe) did not practice on Wednesday.

Safeties Jonathan Meeks (neck) and Aaron Williams (head) both had limited participation, while CB Stephon Gilmore (groin) and rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins (ribs) both had full participation.

It doesnt seem as bad to me as it is being portrayed. Starks is a biggy though but I believe Johnson would fill in nicely without the veteran moves.

Here is today's report.

Trusnik will do a job. Very underrated. He may not be great but he plays the game the way the coaches want him to. He is a good tackler too.

He actually matches up better with the bills than the pats. He is a solid run stuffing LB, but his coverage skills are straight up terrible. He is very stiff but maybe we can get by with him vs the bills.

Fins LB Philip Wheeler said he's a lot more comfortable being able to play and tackle with the cast on his hand and expects to play Sunday.

Watch him become a tackling machine now.

There is always a silver lining. Most of our injuries are not season ending, except for Ellerbe. Some times injuries early in the year provides depth for later in the year when a team goes on a run. These injuries may accelerate the learning curve for Jenkins and McCain and give us some true depth at the LB position later in the season. When we get those back, as well as those from suspension along with Fede, we could really have a scary defense. Same with Pouncey at center. Who would have imagined at the start of the year having someone as good as Satalie sitting on the bench??

Yeah its really too bad Tripp isn't able to take advantage of this opportunity. Granted it was just preseason, but he looks like he may be the most instinctive LBer we've had since Zach.
