Dolphins blew it with passing on Herbert

Making that judgement, and stating it like fact, is no different than the other extreme, is it?
No, he is a good pick man. He was a standout QB, blue chipper, great competitor as a prospect, and it's always good to add those to the team. That's the goal. End of story. There is no two ways about it.

I know its early to access them but... you can do an eye test.

Herbert is a tall athletic strong armed playmaker. He looks like he belongs and can be a great QB than can win games and not just manage them.

Tua is a soft arm, small, non athletic accurate passer that was surrounded with talent at Alabama. He is a game manager/scheme QB at best.

As far as relievers not getting open, its half Tuas fault. He throws a softer ball which takes longer to get to the receiver. This results in DBs getting to the ball and everything is going to be contested.

I'm welcome to criticism, but please back it up with facts and not emotions.

Said this prior to the Chargers game.

Herbert has a penchant, with his offense to jump out to early leads. After half time, defenses adjust and caused numerous 3 and outs leading to tight 4th quarters.

Go look from KC on and you will see the Herbert led offense struggling in the 2nd half of multiple games, and being outscored and beaten.

Do as some here tried, blame it on the Chargers defense. But you can't excuse or explain away the 3 and outs and inability to maintain leads in at least 5 games.

Hyperbolic nonsense. No way you can make a well calculated conclusion on either being better for another 2+ years.

I don't know why I am biting on this thread after four games, so shame on me. Or 10 games for Herbert. It's premature and not fair to either of those young men.
I will give you example 1: Jeff George Vs Bob Griese.
Jeff George was a big, strong armed QB who never won jack but got chance after chance because he was a physical freak.
Bob Griese was smaller, accurate, cerebral. Griese needed a good team around him. I believe Tua will too. Tua will need a very good o-line, and a good running game; with those, he will be a field general. That's what he is. He is not Marino, Elway. He just isn't. He isn't Herbert. But get him the talent he will play mistake free football, get the ball out quick, and make smart decisions, allow his running game and defense to win games.
I think Flores knows this, and this is what they are trying to build.
Maybe Flores owes every whining fan an apology for not having built that team after essentially one off-season of roster building following a tear down season.
I'm not saying Tua is going to be Drew Brees. But holy hell in a handbasket, he's played FOUR GAMES. FOUR.
Look back at your career and tell me how good you were at your job after four days, or Tua's equivalent of one month.
I bet you got better.
I'm sorry. I'm so dumb for reading these threads.

This forum is going to be completely unreadable if every single week is going to determine whether or not we made the right QB choice.

Did anybody ACTUALLY watch the game last week? Did anybody see Herbert do literally anything at all outside of throwing screens and passes to the flat because his own OC was so terrified of him having to stand there and actually play QB that he tried to avoid it until it was too late in the fourth and then you started seeing Herbert just throw it to the other team or into the dirt instead?

And what, something changed because Herbert played the JETS?

He has TWO wins. Jacksonville and the Jets. The worst two teams in the league. His defense gives up 27 points a game and his offense scores 26 points a game. Now, anybody with a brain please tell me what their record SHOULD be given those two numbers? Hint: It's better than 2-7.

If you want to ignore the obvious warts in Herbert's game that is causing his team to lose games, then go for it. Those of us who actually watch college football and paid attention during the draft knew. He sucks in pressure situations. He sucks with the game on the line. That was his biggest flaw then and it's his biggest flaw now. It's why his team is 2-7 instead of 3-4 or 4-3.

Herbert has a lot more talent around him than Tua does, but you can't deny that he has looked more like a future franchise QG so far.

I have confidence in Tua that he will be a big time winner once they give me more weapons and assuming he stays healthy, but it does look like Herbert is more likely to put up big numbers.

I can't cheer against the kid, a lot of stupid stuff was said about his attitude and makeup during the pre draft period and he is showing everyone he is a leader.

I would have taken Tua in the Fins spot but I liked Herbert a lot and would have been fine if they had taken over Tua or if Tua had been taken ahead of the Fins pick.

Herbert is off to a very good start, certainly looks to be a good QB for years to come.

However, I suspect that if the picks were switched, Herbert would look like Tua right now. A lot hinges on the talent surrounding them and the coaching staff.

Gailey still has the training wheels on for Tua, and likely would be treating Herbert the same.

Time will tell.

I against the Rams...I said this.

The Cardinals...I saw glimpses of the DB frequently being there when the ball got to Tua's WR's.

I saw the same thing yesterday...and when Fitz came in I obviously saw that I wasn't imagining things.

I'm still in Tua's corner...I'm not going to sit here and shout down the WR's for not providing separation...DVP isn't a quick out/slant type of WR. He's 6'5 and he's going to have a db on him running short/intermediates. Gesicki to a lesser extent.

Tua's game might not be with the 50/50 ball...it had better be since DCs have tape showing his weakness with NFL pressure in his face.
