Dolphins blew it with passing on Herbert

I know its early to access them but... you can do an eye test.

My eye test returned the following results:
-You wrote "access them" instead of "assess them". Immediate turn off when you create a thread with this type of title. If you're going to troll, get your words right, man!!!
-You have no idea what you're talking about.

I commented on this as well, but to be fair it is probably difficult to access them too.

ok lets be fair. Its entirely possible OP meant access instead of assess (WINK!).
Why would it be early to access them? shouldn't they already be accessible (whatever the **** that means)?

maybe they did blow it. But we don't know that after 4 games. If herbert was soooo great they would have a few more wins. Maybe they will both be great qbs. Yes Tua struggled but he needs support. He is accurate. That is a plus. Am I concerned? Yes, but it is way too early to make any final statements on how good he will be.

So we can give flores and company to year 3 to see if they have it but we can't give tua more time to see what hes got?

Flores didn't look too good in the beginning but now he looks much better. Hell even with that he can regress as well. I doubt it but hell it's still to early for him to be considered either way.

Why can't we do the same with tua?

Well I didn't expect him to see the field at all this year, so I'm happy he's being developed.

Herbert is a tall athletic strong armed playmaker. He looks like he belongs and can be a great QB than can win games and not just manage them.

Tua is a soft arm, small, non athletic accurate passer that was surrounded with talent at Alabama. He is a game manager/scheme QB at best.

As far as relievers not getting open, its half Tuas fault. He throws a softer ball which takes longer to get to the receiver. This results in DBs getting to the ball and everything is going to be contested.

I'm welcome to criticism, but please back it up with facts and not emotions.
A little bit of a knee jerk reaction I think.

Look, Herbert is good, and I am on record before the draft saying that we should stay put and draft whichever one was available to us or whichever we felt better about if we liked both and both were available, but that we shouldn’t trade up for either one of them.

However, where do you get “soft arm” from? He’s got an above average arm and has flashed some traits that are similar to Drew Brees and Russel Wilson. That is just my opinion, but that’s a pretty heigh ceiling.

As for Herbert, he has the tools to be great. Will San Diego give him the support he needs to become a winner? Tua is a rookie and is learning, but I think he has flashed a very live arm, in the previous 3 games borderline elite accuracy with some of the throws he make (Not last night so much he was clearly off).

Tua has also demonstrated natural instincts and a real feel for the game at times and he has also demonstrated that like all rookies, he can get flustered with pressure when his Oline gets blown up and his coaches don’t make mid game adjustments To deal with all of those stunts they were throwing at him.

He needs the rest of this season, including buttocks kickings like last night (an ass kicking is an excellent educator), a proper off season and pre-season, and then next year I think is where you can make an opinion like this without it sounding like you are too quick to jump to conclusions based on such a small sample size.

Rookie Qb’s first year I’m looking for flashes of the traits that made them elite prospects in college, improvement, and expect adversity, but then want to see if he is able to overcome said adversity which is one of the most important tools anyone can have in any walk of life, but definitely in football At that position.

Tua played poorly last night, the Oline acted like they’d never seen stunts before and couldn’t block it to save their lives, and the coaches failed to prepare the entire team for what Vic “F’in Fangio threw at them not just pre-game in their preparation but during game in their lack of effective adjustments, and Tua looked like he was overwhelmed.

The other way to look at it is there is a lot to learn from in that film and that experience.

I blame Covid for the lack of accessibility.

Just for the record, we all agree Herbert has better weapons correct? Nobody believes Tua does do they? Believe it or not maybe we have better RB’s, Ballage really is the lead dog there but otherwise it’s Herbert. So let’s see how he does in some games we have a real interest in. He has Buffalo and NE, go get em kid.

I think Herbert is playing pretty well. However, if you’re a guy who is killing Fitz for game costing INT’s you have to do the same for Herbert. He’s had that happen at least 2 times right off the top of my head. Would everyone be happier if we had a QB putting up fantasy numbers only to throw a crucial INT that flips the game? Knowing Finheaven, maybe.

Bro that's like a quarter of the people on this forum, sadly.
It's just crazy to me. I get not wanting tua or wanting to draft him. But we did. And you don't spend your 5th overall pick on a guy then dump him within a year. Yeah yeah the cardinals did it but different circumstances.

You got to give him until atleast the end of next year in my opinion. So he gets the rest of this year and a full offseason and another full season. Then let's talk. But that whole time we should be rooting and hoping for him and the dolphins to do well.

Herbert has looked good at times.....but he looked awful against us and our defense. He appears calm in the pocket and has a strong arm, but also makes a lot of mistakes.

Tua needs to play better. He has done some good things so far and has had flashes....but hasn’t handled pressure very well and until he does, he is going to see a lot of it. He also needs to not try to do too much and take the high percentage throw. I’ve seen him try to hit big plays instead of taking the chain moving throw. All of these are rookie things.....and will improve over time

If I had to draft again, I would still take Tua over Herbert every time
