Dolphins blew it with passing on Herbert

I know its early to access them but... you can do an eye test.

Herbert is a tall athletic strong armed playmaker. He looks like he belongs and can be a great QB than can win games and not just manage them.

Tua is a soft arm, small, non athletic accurate passer that was surrounded with talent at Alabama. He is a game manager/scheme QB at best.

As far as relievers not getting open, its half Tuas fault. He throws a softer ball which takes longer to get to the receiver. This results in DBs getting to the ball and everything is going to be contested.

I'm welcome to criticism, but please back it up with facts and not emotions.

You’ll get a lot of heat for this, but you’re not wrong.

Tua *might* become good. Herbert already *is* good.

At this point, any objective fan cannot argue that tua has not produced a high level body of work. Lots of reasons, but still fact. I hope he grows into what the talking heads claimed he was but reality is that he lucked out of 3 ints that would be on his stat sheet and he's only flashed.
Is very early and this kid is talented so he can definitely be who we've been waiting for but there is no way anyone can honestly show that he's been better than herbert.

Herbert has played well. But the talent around him on offense is much better than what Tua has.
True but Rivers didn't put up the kind of numbers Herbert has when he was with the Chargers the last few years with the same weapons and having Gordon at RB as well. Also there is no way Tyrod Taylor would be putting up these kinds of numbers if he was the starter this whole time instead of Herbert. In fact the Chargers offense looked like crap in Week 1 at the Bengals when Taylor played compared to how they have looked since then with Herbert playing. Those are just the facts.

So now its Herbert's fault his team has lost 7 games? Several of which the Chargers held double digit leads. So 7 losses as to 4 losses makes Tua the better QB? Am I understanding this correctly? GTFOH!!!!

Its the fact that after the HALF, they don't score!

The Chargers offense has serious issues after adjustments are made, in at least 5 games. I believe it was the NO game, they came out and had 2 straight 3 and outs. Herbert was getting hit and the ball was sailing on him as he lost any semblance of footwork....what did the Chargers have to do? The next serious they ran it 3 straight times, punt. But they were able to get the ball moving again on the 4th series.

Herbert can not carry his team with all his starts and personnel at this point. And neither can Tua.

But watching Herbert in some of those loses, you see what he struggles with. And alot of it followed from Oregon.

Because there are 21 other players who contribute to whether their team wins or loses. Our defense in particular is significantly better then SD's. That has nothing to do with Tua vs. Herbert. Herbert likely would have won all 3 games Tua did if Herbert were on our team. Herbert's played 9 games and hasn't had a single game under 100 yards passing (Tua has had 2 in 4 games played). Tua's best game he threw for 248 yards. Yardage-wise that would be Herbert's 2nd WORST game. Herbert's thrown for over 300 yards 5 times in 9 games, Tua has yet to ever do it.
Facts

Based on the evidence we have now I have no problem with the OP’s assessment. Things could change.

It amuses me that wins and losses didn’t matter when debating Marino’s career but now they matter for Tua.

Seriously knocking every other NFL player in defense of poor QB play is a tad weird.

Just admit Superman, Batman, Spiderman, and Captain Kangaroo are not REAL superheros!

But of course ---------- we ALL believe in Wonder Woman!

:p
I knocked every other player? I mentioned 2 guys and a 3rd I feel should get more opportunities. I like Preston, just don’t think he’s proved he’s a consistently good NFL WR just yet, do you?

I think thats fair, but if you're going to give the dopped INTs to opponents, then you need to give the dropped passes to his receivers... UNLESS you're going to provide me with some kind of evidence that opponents have dropped more Tua INTs than league average and that his receivers have dropped less Tua passes than league average. Else you should just keep the could've, should've out of the discussion IMO...

Unsure. He's missed too much time.

Beyond that -- you're right. I'll work on my math

as long as you're not afraid to crit the QB as well.

Case solved!
