Dolphins blew it with passing on Herbert

There is just as much blame to be laid on catches being made on the weak corps we have. I could give quite a few examples of Grant and Williams simply pulling up and not completing their routes.
But Tua was supposed to be the guy with amazing accuracy who threw receivers open...

This hasn't happened. He hasn't been that accurate, and he hasn't 'thrown receivers open'.

I'm not saying that he won't... just that he hasn't. This is more an indictment of the Tua cultists than it is of Tua. I expect rookie QBs to be bad.

Yes, it APPEARS that Herbert might be a LONG TIME gunslinger in this league... It also appears that Chase Young will be a long-time pass rusher...

I'm not sure why you are being so pedantic about a first blush take.
I simply addressed your opinion that you now admit you said. So that’s progress.

Clearly it’s easier to call me pedantic than to address what I said.

Can lead a horse to water, can't make him drink it. Not saying only the receivers have been at fault, there have been some ducks and misses for sure. But to say it is only Tua is not fair at all.

As far as the cultists or whatever, this site has turned toxic with the way people are digging in their heels and fighting with each other to be right.

Tuas first TD in the NFL was in the smallest TD window thrown by a QB this season. So yes, he can throw guys open and has already displayed that.

If you expect him to do that every play and account for poor WR seperation, thats simply not how it works.

Yes... it's kind of funny. Here I am saying something in the middle ground. Tua hasn't been great, but the story isn't over... and I have a number of people up in arms. It's like I attacked their mother. LOL

Excellent point.

I think it's fair to say a lot of posts aren't anti Tua, so much as anti (tired of) the exageration of him being so unquestionably great that he is some sort of transcendent player, before he has proven anything at the NFL level.

I am not anti Tua. I like the kid, and hope he is everything we hope for in a QB.

Not anti Tua at all, just anti exaggeration, and pro common sense.

I havent visited the site a lot day to day but I didn't see a ton of exaggeration. I think a lot of people were wary of him playing behind a young OL with no running game. I saw a lot of people saying he should sit all season and learn. I personally wanted to see him play so I am happy he is.

But yes, common sense is best. So far to me he has displayed that he can throw with high accuracy when his feet are set. But he needs to adjust to the speed of the game and get used to scrambling more than he did in college until we get a run game and solidify the OL.

Now that is fair... I have posted much the same thing.

Right now, I think he is playing scared. That will end, hopefully soon.

Nonsense. He's been more accurate than not, until the Broncos game.

I also don't think he has a good understanding/command of the offense.

I see a lot of ppl saying "open it up" or "turn him loose".

If he isn't ready, what is the point?

I had hoped to see more vs. the Broncos, but that obviously didn't happen.

...and he isn't ready yet. ...and I keep saying that this is okay. Rookies, by and large, aren't. Hell, the most disastrous rookie in the NFL right now is probably Andrew Thomas and he was advertised as being the most NFL ready player in the draft.

Truth is >>> you're an obvious subversive and...
