One thing is certain, the Dolphins are going to use McCain. He is a good football player and he wants to do more.

(How many positions do you want to play this year?) – “As many as I can. I like to know the defense. I like to study the defense. I love football. I like to know where everybody is lining up, what’s my weakness, where’s my help, where isn’t it. Knowing nickel, corner, safety, knowing it all, it helps you.” – MiamiDolphins.com

Keep him in the slot unless there's a huge run of injuries. He's finally starting to figure that out. Don't ruin it by moving him around.

Glad to read he is talking about defense still, not "Hey coach line me up at RB in the redzone!!" which helps no one.

I know I am going to get slammed on here for this, but I think he is overrated for his type of contract. I hope he proves me wrong.

I love the attitude though, and I am genuinely rooting for him. I think even if I am right about him and he is just a regular slot corner we have a ton of potential at the position.

Nah You shouldn’t get slammed but I definitely think you are incorrect with your feelings on the contract.

Just keep in mind he is still playing on his rookie deal, so we have him for the next 5 years for roughly 28 million. I can pretty much guarantee if you wait a year on him and allow him to become a UFA, and he continues his upward trend, he would of eclipsed the 4/30 mark with relative ease.

Cap has gone up and so has the value of a solid starting nickel Cb. Miami May have overcompensated a tad on total value but seemed to get away cheap on the guaranteed side of things with only a 3 million dollar signing bonus and ultimately that is where you want to win if you are Miami.

Gotta tell ya, I didn't see him blossoming into this type of guy when he got here. Happy with his progress
Yeah. Ppl used to bitch about him all the time. They don't realize you have to let a guy develop most of the time. It also doesn't help when you have a revolving door at the D coordinator position.

I thought it was on the high side, but not so much that it was ridiculous.

Apparently, the staff values the character and personality as well as the football talent. I don't have a problem with that.

The forum finds guys to not like and they post crap about the guy until he either gets cut or turns in a good player. McCain took more than his share of harsh comments about his game but he turned it around, the light came on and he got paid some big money. I couldn't be happier for the kid. I'd like to see the light come on for a few of our other players. Jordan Phillips, Charles Harris, Laremy Tunsil and of course Mrs. Parker, 3 1's and a 2!!!! These guys better perform this year. Holy Overdrafted Batman!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could be a Chris Harris type player for us, but considering how much Nickle we play hard to see him moving out of the slot.

To be fair, Charles Harris was a rookie last year.

Sean, I'm super high on what Charles Harris did to better himself in the off-season. I expect him to take a significant step this season. He'll have to make the most of his snaps because there's a lot of talent at DE, but I expect him to do just that.

I've heard quite a few people say he was our best CB last year, but I hope that is Xavian Howard this year.

Were best to play our new safety/CB Fitzpatrick could also come into play here, Saban is an excellent secondary coach and there have to be reasons why he had Fitzpatrick playing the slot... keeping him closer to the line of scrimmage, helping shut down the run, have him near short-medium passing lanes, blitzing etc.

McCain maybe hearing footsteps of his own, how this all plays out is going to be interesting.

OTA's there was some chatter about Jalen Davis, come to camp there is even louder chatter about Torry McTyer.....Cornell Armstrong better get going. Some of these young CB's are going to be left danging on the practice squad when all is said and done.

McCain should stick to nickel. Although I wouldn't mind him playing more special teams especially as a kick returner which he did some in college.
