i agree with this notion....but a deal should have been done two weeks ago....

But hey i'm sure glad we are not dealing with Terrel Owens

I'm really surprised about this. I figured after the Edwards signing this work be done within 24-48hrs.

It appears the Miami FO is on the cheap in this case. There is no reason why a player drafted after Brown should have a more lucrative contract than him.

C'mon guys, he needs at least 30 million(19.5 +10.5) to survive. I know I couldn't live on only 20 or 25 million :shakeno:  :D

from the numbers it really looks like the team is lowballing brown, i'm not really concerned yet though, long camp holdouts didn't hurt tomlinson or james

Nothing puts the kibosh on anticipation of a player's arrival quicker than long drawn out contract negotiations. From now on Nublar, just phrase the news stories like "Dolphins and Browns continue talks" or "Dolphins and Brown contract talks move a wee bit closer together" instead of words like "far apart"...it makes it sound better.

I hope someone blinks soon so he can get into camp. It's weird how one day we hear he's asking for too much, then the next it's because the team is low-balling him. At least both sides are doing their negotiating in private instead of in the media.

19.5 million GUARANTEED. What's cheap about that?? Gallery signed last year for 18.5 I believe (no.2 overall).
The Dolphins offer is more than fair. When they drafted Brown I thought he would be among the first of the top 10 picks to sign. I thought he would have felt fortunate to be chosen 2nd overall, since there was no consensus between picks 2-5. Boy was I wrong.

if you read the article it says the guarenteed money is not the sticking point , it is the bonuses and the escalator clauses that would allow him to actually make in the 30-40mil range that they are stuck on.

If we are paying Brown roughly 6-7 million dollars per year on average, why would he still want performance escalators. For that amount of salary, he should be a stud without performance bonuses. For that amount of salary, he should be in 45% of the plays. He does not need a bonus to be in that number of plays!
