Though the Dolphins want to address receiver primarily in the draft, they have not ruled out signing a cheap veteran free agent to supplement what they acquire in the draft and what they already have on the roster.
### South Carolina receiver Alshon Jeffery, who some draft analysts believe could slip as far as Miami's second-round range (No. 41), helped himself by running in the 4.4 tange at South Carolina's Pro Day. He also has gotten himself in better shape, which had been a concern. Jeffery and LSU's Rueben Randle could be gone by 41. That would leave Rutgers' Mohamed Sanu among the best potential receiver options at that spot.

I honestly don't think anybody knows what we are going to do at WR . . . this article mentions 2 big WR's that don't seem to fit the "prototype" Philbin/GB WR. I still think we could address it in round 1.

What ever it is, they better do something !!!

I can honestly tell you Miami will double down on WRs in this draft. Learn this names...Juron Criner and marvin Mcnutt. They are classical WCO WRs.

jeffery promised yesterday he is gonna maintain that 215 and it be his playing weight...i don't trust it...and the guy on tape runs lousy routes and is sluggish out of his breaks...yeah at 215 i'm sure he is more explosive but the guy is long and lanky kinda hard to see him getting into that 225 range and carrying it well which is where i think he's headed back to...and on tape he doesn't separate he outleaps guys for the ball...not a chance i'd take with a top 50 pick

That's fine two W/R with our 2x3rd round pick's...........

    Juron Criner, WR, Arizona
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 224.
    40 Time: 4.68.
    Vertical: 38.
    Broad: 9-9.
    Arm: 31 3/8. Hand: 10 1/2.
    Projected Round (2012): 2-3.

3/12/12: Criner had a phenomenal Senior Bowl. He was excellent all week at getting separation and making tough catches. Criner was very polished in his route running and showed good hands. Unfortunately, his Combine performance was disappointing with a slow 40 time. That prevented him from improving his stock towards the top of the second day.

Criner was productive in 2011 with 75 receptions for 956 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was the most reliable and consistent weapon for quarterback Nick Foles. An appendectomy kept Criner out against Oklahoma State, and Arizona really missed him. He excels at jump balls downfield. Criner looks like a potential possession receiver in the NFL who could be a good red-zone weapon. He reportedly has some off-the-field concerns.

8/19/11: After considering going pro, Juron Criner decided to return for his senior season with the Wildcats. It was probably a good decision as some personal issues had some wondering if he would play in the 2011 season. Criner showed up for camp on time and allegedly was dealing with a family illness. Last season, he had a massive year for Arizona. Criner caught 82 passes for 1,233 yards and 11 touchdowns. He repeatedly bailed out quarterback Nick Foles on deep passes that were tossed up for grabs. Criner uses his size, body control, and leaping ability to come down with some big catches. There are faster receivers than Criner, but he provides good hands with a big target and still runs well.

    Marvin McNutt, WR, Iowa
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 216.
    40 Time: 4.54.
    Vertical: 37.
    Broad: 10-2.
    Arm: 31 5/8. Hand: 10.
    Projected Round (2012): 2-3.

3/12/12: McNutt ran faster than expected at the Combine, and was solid in the field drills. He also performed well at the Senior Bowl and showcased a well-developed skill set.

McNutt is an underrated prospect and could be a steal. In 2011, he made 82 catches for 1,315 yards and 12 touchdowns. McNutt produced big plays in all levels of the defense and beaten secondaries with a combination of size and quickness. The only teams that truly limited him were Nebraska and Oklahoma. McNutt couldn't get separation from Nebraska cornerback Alfonzo Dennard. If McNutt had gotten the better of Dennard, then McNutt could be a first-round pick.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder could have even more production if he played in a better passing offense. McNutt has deceptive quickness, good hands and runs good routes. He is capable of making big plays downfield with his speed and his size.

8/19/11: Marvin McNutt was the primary weapon for Ricky Stanzi, and McNutt recorded 53 catches for 861 yards and eight touchdowns last season. As a sophomore, he had 34 receptions for 674 yards and eight scores. McNutt will have a new signal caller in 2011, so that will be interesting to see how he performs. McNutt has good size and deceptive quickness. If he went to a passing-led school, he could have much better numbers.

Is Juan Huron still available? I cannot recall his bio / stats (I tried to search for his old post but could not find it), he had pretty good numbers. He said so himself.

I think we may target M.Sanu in 2nd. Not good straight line speed or top end speed, but is sharp out of cuts, great hands, physical and tough over middle......perfect for WCO.

IMO a poor mans Jerry Rice!

Want NOTHING to do with Jeffries... seen it in person a number of times..... nothing special... certainly not NFL special....

Who could that cheap veteran be? Roy Williams maybe? By the way, I think the biggest impact to the passing game (other than qb) would be someone like Coby Fleener. If the Dolphins draft Ryan Tannehill in the 1st, I'd love to see the team trade up and get Fleener. There are wide receivers out there who don't run as fast and he knows how to get open/plus fantastic redzone threat.

I know Mccnutt has that wisconsin connection to philbin and has been mentioned. Criner is someone I did wonder about. I wonder if he slips to one of our 3rd rounders cus I think QB, DE, RG/T are going to have some say in where we draft poeople.

Praying for another trade down for another second. Thats the ticket. I think this is going to be a good draft.

Would be nice to have some athletic TE's for once. I like Fasano, but I don't think he's explosive enough to thrive in our new system.
