I'm glad Philbin is here as the HC, I think were better off for it. I don't think it will limit our GM options by too much. Philbin is highly respected among the league according to everything I read on the subject and I'm sure there are plenty that would want to work with him. I see so many fins fans claim Philbin is currently on the hot seat when I've seen nothing of the sort come out of the Dolphins facility.

Philbin was Ross pick as HC. Philbin has done a good job with the worst OLine in the NFL and some linebacker contracts that are gonna bite us in the ass. Not to mention how the team held together after the bullygate scandal.

Ross also let Ireland spend a ton of his money on the players we currently have. I'm sure he's thought about bringing in a new HC and the change that could force on the personnel he has already paid for. Say the HC has a different scheme etc..

We have a talented team and we beat some good teams this year. We couldn't overcome our deficiencies but hopefully we can correct this moving forward (OL, LB etc..).

Philbin/Tanne will be a good HC/QB combo in this league. My opinion of course...
 
THen why are reports saying that we are interested in Harbaugh and that Ross still wants him? IF there is an upgrade available, Philbin is out.

Love the cherry picking that goes around on this forum. One moment posters will denounce LaCAnfora as being a dolphin hating dolt and then when he posts something that fits your agenda you take his word as gospel.

Philbin isn't going anywhere.

Our ****ty OLine got dominated by two of the best DLines in the game. This is hardly the fault of Philbin. Although, he can't escape any blame, he is the HC afterall. The person mainly responsible for this is gone. Ireland... the one who put the OLine together...
 
I do think this will limit our search for a GM as the GM loses the ability to make a key decision that directly impacts his longevity with the team. I am sure there are some GM candidates that don't like Philbin....
 
I would think anyone wanting the general manager job would start with his own choice for head coach. Ross really likes Philbin and thinks he is doing a good job. Maybe Philbin has someone in mind that he could work with but it seems like it would make the job less desirable to most people.

1. I never thought he would be fired.
2. I DO think the org is making a mistake not cleaning house and using half measures....again.
3. I am still not sure what Joe is good at as HC and nobody can tell me.

Because Harbaugh wouldn't be available until 2015. He has one year left on his contract with SF.

^^^This, If we fired Joe Philbin today what special qualities as a Coach did we just lose? There is NOTHING special about Joe Philbin that would be hard to replace. NOTHING!!!
