That's so far reaching and contrived. Teams always print those in advance. If I were the Jets, I would hope trying to salvage a season, make the playoffs, and beat a rival would be motivation enough rather than this childish device.

I wouldn't. I'm all for finding devices to motivate your team, but this one is hard to latch onto. If this were a game that didn't have so much already attached to it, maybe I'd understand the need for 'additional' bulletin board material.
Teams always pre-print the shirts. Somewhere in a third world country, the Buffalo Bills are 4-time Super Bowl champions.
It's not like the Dolphins had them printed, most likely. There are guys who sit outside the stadium printing t-shirts and hats in the backs of trucks. Mangina probably found one of them and had him print one up for him to use as motivation.

Well I personally think that it won't be a motivating factor to the other team. That is something that Wanny would do for us and it failed. Just go back to the "lobster trap" vikings game.
