Dolphins | Chatman signed, allocated to NFLE

Adam Schefter, of the <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/77/nfl">NFL Network, reports the Miami Dolphins have signed free agent RB Jesse Chatman (Saints). The team allocated him to NFL Europa.

I think he was with us a year or two ago. Was consider to be a solid back-up and then just dissapeared....

I liked this kid.Saban traded him to the saints for someone,or a draft pick.He is fast.I dont know his forty but im glad we have him back.

GO DOLPHINS..................#1

Another player Cam is familiar with. He was LT's backup in 2004.

He ran a 4.6 in college. He used to return kicks for the Chargers a couple years ago. If this is the same guy? He failed a physical and the Chargers cut him. I'm surprised he would be allocated to Europe, he has been around.

Camron knew how to use this guy before, maybe he can be a contributer once again.

He was. He was a decent backup to LT but I think Michael Turner is much better.

Michael Turner was the better back up in SD, but that's because he can be a starter on a lot of the teams in this league.

I like bringing Chatman back though, he could be really good to spell Ronnie (depending on Ricky's return).

I think he got cut by the Chargers because he turned up to camp in ridiculously bad shape, his weight balooned which opened the door for Michael Turner. I liked the guy too but I can't figure out why we'd allocate him to NFL Europe, he's way too good.

Oh, and another thing, anyone know why NFL europe is now being referred to as 'europa' ??

He's been out of football for about a year and by allocating him to NFL Europa, Cam gets to see if he still has what it takes to be a significant contributor.

According to Wikipedia
NFL Europa

On November 10, 2006 NFL Europe officially rebranded itself as NFL Europa (as in German and Dutch language). The move to NFL Europa is intended to highlight the success in and importance of the German and Dutch markets and to create stronger ties with those countries. The new logo and name also maintains very firm links with the NFL in the United States. When the league unveiled the logo for the upcoming World Bowl XV, its main element is the new NFL Europa logo symbolizing the new change that will be taking place.

Thanks man, makes sense I suppose now that there is no team in Britain

I would have thought that the UK would be one of the countries where American football would have taken hold. Why did it flop ?

I believe the reason it didn't catch on so well was due to the fact that it's NFLE - hardly the cream of the crop. Since they get real NFL games on tv, it wasn't the most attractive option to go see guys who were basically sent there to get some seasoning. It's gonna be great to see 90,000 fans cheering the Dolphins later on this year though :D
