After watching the game yesterday, I find these points very evident about our team.
1) We are a good team right now..who can be very good at some point this season. However, we will never be great this season. To truly be great, we have to be much more consistent. That being said, it doesnt take a "great" team to make much noise.
2) Gus is a capable QB for this year, and this year alone. He made some great throws yesterday, and some flat out awful ones. He just isnt consistant enough on his long throws. His pick in the endzone was terrible. Not only did he never not look at Booker, he stared him down, and then double clutched allowing the DB to make a move on the ball. I can accept that from a rookie like Eli Manning just learning to play in the NFL, not from a veteran. Guys...we score a FG on that possesion and we win the game. No doubt. Buffalo could not stop us in the end.
3) I dont think we came out flat, I almost think we came out to hyped up. Many of the defensive penalties were from offsides where we were trying to time the snap and kill Holcomb. Flat is no aggression. I saw plenty of aggression.
4) Ronnie is going to be the best back to ever play in Miami if he stays healthy. He does it all, and he makes it look almost easy when he does it. Much like watching Jordan play basketball..at times yesterday, Ronnie looked like a man among boys. And he is the complete back..which can never EVER be underestimated.
5) Saban never looks uncomposed on the sideline. So far, the biggest the biggest sign he will be a Hall of Fame coach, are the adjustments made after halftime.
We all knew this year was not going to be a Super Bowl year. The Phins had played exciting aggresive football so far, and that is all I can ask at this point. I think we will be playing some great football in the last month or two, but Im not sure it will be enough this year.
Aside from Indy, the league is much more balanced this year. We could sneak in if we can start to limit the mental errors. You really cant be dissapointed with our team. Instead, we can all see we are going to be a huge force if not this year, definatley next. Remember the year leading up to the Dallas run in the 90's. You just knew as you watched them they were going to be an awsome team. Thats how our team is.
