I kinda like that we're hitting the playbook hard first. That's the area where the rookies need the most help. Once the reps come, they need to know what they're doing, not standing around going " uhhhhhhh.... I'm just gonna stand and watch until I figure out what I'm supposed to do." That helps nobody. These practice reps are soooooooooo few and far between after this latest collective bargaining agreement, that these rookies really need to hit the ground running. What better way to do that than to make sure they have the mental aspect down first. Injuries, yeah, it may help to ease them into things after an offseason of interviews, celebration, and track-and-field preparation for the combine. They may not really be in football shape yet. But the mental aspect ... that's going to take a lot of work, so I'm all in favor of drilling it into them before we let them loose to burn an actual practice.
