It’s hard to imagine Adam Gase as anything but the defiantly confident coach with his hat pulled down, his chin out, his razor-sharp glare one of a man who’s certain he’s already won whatever argument you’re about to start with him.
He seems like he’s walking that fine line once again. The rest of the country scoffs at Miami’s offseason moves. Some predict this will be one of the worst teams in the league. My first reaction was that the Dolphins must be slashing and burning for a full-scale rebuild. A few months later, I view it slightly more favorably, but it still doesn’t look like anything special.

What's going to stand out when I think back about Gase is his going out and getting Cutler prevented us from rebuilding (yet again) a year sooner and being in better position to draft one of the big 4 QB's from this years draft.

Gase seems to get a free pass on some curious decisions and i too fall into this trap cause I like him...then when I think about it i wonder why. Are we in a better position now as opposed to before he arrived?

I'm not so sure but this year will make or break my feelings on him. If slow starts and penalties continue as well as the horrific third-down stats I think my vote is to send him packing. I had really high hopes for him but that fire starting to go out.

It would of needed to be top 3, as I don’t believe they take Rosen or Allen if Tannehill is coming back.

And with their love affair with the wide 9, they may of taken Chubb over those other 2 guys.

This is the pivotal year but he will get at least 4 imo just to make sure he is not the guy.

All I know is, Ross is going to be pissed if we don't make the playoffs this year and some front office people and coaches are going to fall on the sword for it at seasons end.

I remain agnostic, mostly because of the unknowns. I see a lot of what should be upgrades, but I don't see them working seamlessly. And he has to correct the undisciplined play.

starting to get a not so good feeling about this season... I just don't get the sense of URGENCY and COMPULSION from Gase that I'd hope to sense...

He's gotta find a way to force positive things to happen. Be ruthless and realize the only stat is winning!

Hope I'm wrong.

I'm not sure I follow your thinking. What would have been different if he had not done the cutler deal? How did that affect the rebuilding?

Maybe wasting a year and we could have used the 10mil elsewhere.

That $10 mil rolls over and Suh is still on the team. I'd say or Landry but it looks like he was toast regardless ... but at least the option existed.

I'm not sold on Gase and never wanted him getting the job in the first place. I think he is highly overrated. If this team has a bad season, it will be time to completely clean house and start over with a new front office, head coach, and QB in 2019.

When & if Gase fails here he will just get reshuffled onto the NFL coaching wheel of misfortune and land as an asst somewhere else paychecks keep coming. Im of the opinion that coaches no longer feel urgency to win via any means necessary because unlike 25 years ago they just get reassigned. Dont believe it? Look at the career paths of Miamis HC over the last decade.

Yup. No reason for the pool of possible coaches to be so shallow except for the NFL making it that way. Just like anything else ... it's who you know ... or who your dad is/was. Nepotism abounds.

GMs too for that matter. Gotta be 'in the club'.
