Dolphins coach Sparano says blocking breakdowns nothing to worry about

He's a former offensive line coach, and the biggest weakness on the team IN YEAR FOUR is OL. Hey, Tony:

Yes, and its not like we didn't invest 2 number one picks and a 3rd rounder on the O-line in those four years, or spend big money contracts on free agent lineman who busted out.

Who is evaluating these O-lineman? I mean, a 2nd grader could have drafted Jake Long number 1 overall, And Pouncey was a pretty obvious pick if you weren't drafting a QB or Ingram. But the rest of these guys?

What he is thinking right now: "We are fine!"

What he will be thinking by week 2: "Whoa. Good lord. We are going to be doing a loooooooooot of running toward the left side this year."

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..........................

ok tony, i could see if 3/4 or even half the line were fresh faced rookies but only ONE is and thats pouncy who is actually playing much better than i thought he would at this point.

columbo came from the cowboys and was under YOUR tuteledge for YEARS and knows your scheme very well. he is used to playing right tackle. so, knows the scheme well, is at his career position. wrong on that one tony!!

cary has played guard before. plus, he has been in the nfl for many years and hasnt forgotten how to block. this isnt like changing a ilb to a cb.

the murtha, incognito, pouncy, cary, columbo line has been in place for a month now, all but one are seasoned pros, or close enough, and all but one at their natural position. so whats all this again tony? why is it taking so long for them to gell?

maybe some of the players you have shouldnt be in there now, mainly columbo [who should retire] and cary who probably should think about retiring after the season. murtha is having some real issues.

players who are vets and have played in a certain system for years DO NOT take long to gell and they sure the hell dont look this bad [and their bad, real bad!!].

long will help, but, how long does that knee and shoulder hold up? time to start bringing in some o-line guys with talent [like ohara] before there are non by the time you FINALLY figure out the players are just not good [probably mid season when we are 2-6].

“I personally feel very comfortable right now,” he said. “This group has shown me plenty to get themselves ready to play for the season.”

Remeber when he said, "Dan Henning is good for Tony Sparano."
Im sorry Tony, but us fans are holding you accountable for your words. You're in the 4th year here, the blind faith we had after year one is gone. So if, and I hope never, we get crushed due to our O-line week one, you are being held responsible by the fans.
We hope Henne is worked out. And we dont just want something to ***** about. Like another poster said, Can't we operate on all cyliders at once? For once?

just more sparano media smokescreen.

you know when he's talking that bull crap to the reporters he's crossing his eyes in mockery behind his cool shades.

its all just a setup for the New England game, week 1. They're making it look like the o-line totally sucks and give the Pats a false sense that they'll be able to dominate them. Then we have them right where we want them!

I thought about this. But... I really don't think the FO knows anything about 'strategy.' They probably can't even play a decent game of chess...

Tony, Tony, Tony ... UConn will need an assistant o-line coach next year buddy. It's got your name all over it.

JUST lmao! i LOVE TONY. pissing off people. its kinda fun

Lets not forget Donald Thomas and Shawn Murphy, lower picks that should be identified as servicable(at least) by a "guru". Its year 4 and we're still trying to get this line off the ground, Sparano's embarrassing himself.

Why cant we as a team run on all cylinders just 1 time. There is always a unit that really performs badly. Sick of it

Don't you remember that we won the AFC EAST in 2008....just 2 seasons ago........we did run on all cylinders. We had fewest turnovers in NFL History and were pretty much injury-free.

Well now I feel better. Here I was thinking our line was just getting man-handled physically and it turns out all this offensive line and Carey/Colombo need from having to pick themselves up off their *** every play is a little time to "gel". I never thought a little gelling time would be able to fix guys being physically beaten man to man but the o-line guru Sparano says he's comfortable with the o-line, therefore I'm comfortable with the o-line because Sparano has never given me a reason to doubt his o-line expertise. Wow, I feel good now.

man I miss Pat Mcquistan.

:chuckle: the sad thing is, he's probably no worse than Vernon Carey right now at RG. Talk about a guy who's completely lost it. He went from being a top 5 RT a couple seasons ago to being on Pat McQuistan's level at G. If Sparano stays, you can bet your house on the Dolphins taking a T in the 1st round.
