DAVIE - How does Tony Sparano feel about the New England Patriots' decision to trade Pro Bowl defensive end Richard Seymour to Oakland for a first-round draft pick?

The Miami Dolphins coach didn't have to say anything. The slow fist pump and the broad smile on his face said it all.

That was just one example of the playful mood Sparano was in Monday afternoon as the Dolphins turned their full attention to Sunday's season opener in Atlanta.

Another moment of levity during his news conference came when Sparano mimicked a coin flip when asked how he'll determine who starts opposite Ted Ginn Jr. at wide receiver.

"I don't mean to be a jerk," Sparano said. "I need to laugh a little bit today."

Sparano said thanks to increased depth, there's no need this year for one receiver to be on the field for 65 plays in a single game.

"The best thing to do is probably to play them all," he said.

Keeping the mood light with reporters, while his players pass out in the locker room from practices tougher than they've ever seen before.

BAHAHA Funny article, the mimicked coin flip is pretty hilarious! I wonder why he said "I need to laugh" hopefully work isnt stressing him out too much we need him for MANY years to come :-D

"I need to laugh a little bit today."

Kinda sounds like someone who just came to know about some really bad news, or just had one of those days where everything seems to be going wrong.

Actually, in his interview Fasano also made some comment about trying to lighten up the mood with a joke. Guess it was a really intense practice/prep day.

Fasano also mentioned that some of the rooks noticed that the practices are generally HARDER than the live games. WOW this group of coaches knows how to weed out the slackers....yeh, i'm talking about you Eric Green

One thing that I noticed about the Saints game, was there were no penalties until the second hald, even with backups playing a lot. I think the team is generally starting to come together. Just in time.

I'm sure Sparano is really getting on these guy now about even the smallest mistakes.

Time to cleanse the emotional pallate from the preseason grind.

sparano is the coach for this team he is great the players love him the fans love him and he just seems like the perfect guy for the job!!!
