Dolphins Combine Meetings

If we stay at 13, I’d really focus on an impact football player regardless of position. The way you build your core is to stack impact talent. Positional depth will work itself out. If it’s Tyler Warren, so be it. Could be a LB, the corner from Michigan or an edge. Some impact guy is the way to build a core of blue chip football players for the future. This has been a problem for us for 20 years.

Tend to agree. That being said I think a bulldozer in the middle of the dline would have a play in play out bigger impact than a lockdown corner.

I can scheme to a degree to avoid your corner in passing downs. Harder for me to take a nasty NT without doubling him. But please do as my edges and Seiler should feast more often. Look at what Philly did to KC with only 4 rushers.

I definitely would love to get more physical up front on both sides. Look at Philly. But, I firmly believe in stacking the best possible players especially on days 1 and 2.

Don’t really like Harmon, think he’s more of a 20-25 range target. If I’m going DT at 13 it’s Kenneth Grant.

Don’t view Banks as worthy of 13?
I'd take Membou, Campbell, or Banks in that order at 13, and not worry about it. Good chance all will be solid rookie starters depending on who drafts them and the positions they play.
We all rightfully love us some Membou, but with Banks, there seems to be a lot of paralysis by (over) analysis.

Always rehabbing left knee
Sorry to hear that, buddy. My right knee often bothered me as a young 20-something when I went through my logging period. Walking on those steep side hills often caused right knee pain no matter which direction I was going. No swelling, just stabbing pain. When I quit the woods for any length, my knee returned to normal. I was always careful with both of them though, doing squats or deadlifts. Used those elastic knee wraps that are like an extra wide stretchy ace bandage whenever I did any amount of serious weight (by my standards) with either one.

I saw some of the quarterback drills. Mostly it wasn't too encouraging. Dart looks like he added muscle. His arm strength stood out. Howard was probably the most accurate.

Gabriel looks like an UDFA at this point. Too small. I didn't see Leonard.

I would look quarterback 3rd round or later. I am a fan of Dart, Howard and Leonard.
If Gabriel wasn't a UDFA before the Combine, he's still not a UDFA.

Build your lines first. O and D. QB1 is in place. Let everything else sort itself out. OL makes QB look better. RBs look better, etc. DL makes the LBs look better, etc.

Fully agree, been saying this for the last 2 years

Daniel Jeremiah, the other DJ, compared Will Campbell to Michael Roos, and since Roos was 6065 had 32-inch arms, and still played LT for 10 years, it is a plus comparison. Roos was also an All-Pro twice.

Tyler Booker. Is not worth the 13th pick.
Booker was never going to be our pick at 13; he is a downfield power blocking LG. His RAS score confirms he isn’t super gifted athletically. However, it doesn’t change the fact he is a very good blocker that could easily be a pro bowl caliber OG on the right team.

RAS is simply not useful for evaluating talent. Every year guys who don’t even make NFL rosters put up elite scores because they are good athletes. I pointed out Eichenberg because he is the perfect example of why you need to watch tape. He played well at ND, but their QB at the time often got rid of the ball quick or ran. His stats like not allowing a sack his final year were misleading because he wasn’t asked to do that much as a blocker.

The final point I want to make is that most OL don’t even do the agility portion of the combine which is arguably the only tests that matter. Membou posted a 9.82 score but all he did was jump and run in a straight line which have basically nothing to do with what he will do in the NFL.

If Warren falls to us at 13 we need to have the brains and balls to just make the pick. If he doesn't fall to us we should pick the best oline piece left on the board. I'd love to see us draft an actual Guard who is a road grader and is not a converted Tackle. A huge powerful, athletic guy who has a high football IQ, played for a great program in school and stays healthy. I wouldn't worry about reaching, overdrafting or any of the terms invented by draft guys. I would get a conviction on a guy and I'd go get him. One thing, be right about this pick! If we get Warren at 13 we should draft the best oline piece with #2 and snag a QB in round 3. I'd love to get Jaxson Dart, something tells me he'll be the top QB coming out of this class. I know he's rated far below Sanders and Ward and even Ewers but I like this guy. He is going to be a star at the next level imo. He throws a beautiful deep ball, moves well and is accurate.
