I will say as a dolphin fan that its much easier to be one this season than last. I am a firm believer that we were 1-15 as more a product of our coaching than our actual talent. Any team that has Zach Thomas, Jason taylor, Joey Porter , will Allen and Ronnie brown is not devoid of talent. They were not a 1-15 team on paper but our coach lost this team from day one and continued to lose them. From bad player decisions , to bad draft and bad handling of almost everything it was dreadful. That being said during these first few weeks people have been very reactionairy after some games for the good or bad but we are basically where most thought we would be at this point. 2-4

After we blew out the Patriots I think way too many people seemed to miss that we are still a very flawed football team. We have improved our oline and Qb play on offense but we have a bottom rung receiver core that will not translate to more wins. We have brought in depth on the front 7 but our corners have no depth. The talk of playoffs was really just judgeing too much on one game. We then had people thinking that riding the wildcat would be unstoppable , even with the evidence of coaches that have experienced it saying that in time teams adapt. Some even made Ronnie brown the best back in the league based on a couple of games. People that disagreed were haters even in the face of very little evidence to support these conclusions.

I do think we have a good foundation that with next year's free agency and draft should be a team that should challenge for a playoff spot. We were smart enough to not wait three years to determine if Beck was really good enough and based thier decision on off season workouts and film and actually drafted the guy that they wanted. We are buiding in my opinion a possible elite OL and have a good core that needs more depth. We have also built a good dline with the exception of a young NT unless Starks can handle that role. very good depth at LB with some needed youth hopefully on the way next season.

To this point to be mad with our team for being 2-4 is basically reading way too much into our wins and not enough into our losses. I do however think we should have done better against the Ravens. Lets be happy we are on the right path and that we are actually using the draft for whats its supposed to be.

i feel the same way, even though we had 2 really good games, doesn't mean that from night to day we are top 12 team on the league...
We're progressing though and even though we lost we showed that we are not an easy rival anymore.

This is just one more example of why rating a thread is useless. if you dont like what I have to say thats fine but one star on this thread, what would be the possible reasoning.

One thing I would add is that the Dolphins suffered an unbelievable wave of injuries in 2007, and that definitely contributed to the 1-15 campaign. It wasn't all bad coaching.

I also agree that NT should be a top priority and that 2-4 is more or less where we should be at this point (I think this current unit is a .500 team at best).

Injuries always play a factor but teams have had more injuries and did much better than we did. I think coaching overall from his relationship with the players to his decsions were awful. Cam Cameron ahs proven at two levels that he is not a good head coach. I mean who would have thought that the Giants after thier runningback retiring would win the superbowl.

Yes, but injuries, combined with not enough depth can kill a team, no matter who is coaching. If the injuries are spread out through different positions it's not quite as detrimental. I'm not defending Cam, he was horrible, but it's hard to win when your injuries include:

starting QB with little quality backup, starting RB with little quality backup, Pro Bowl MLB, and starting safeties AND their backups as well.

Seriously, how do you stop a team from exploiting your defenses weakness when your missing ZT and your down to your.....4th...5th....safety?

How many teams do you know of that have THAT many injuries that affect ONE aspect of the team's game. The most recent example I can come up with is Seattle this year. Alot of their injuries are to players in the passing game. Receivers have missed alot of time and then Hasselbeck goes down. They just happen to be DEAD LAST with 126.8 passing yards per game. And Holmgren has his team sitting at 1-5 right now.

Good post, except IMO we don't know what we have in our receivers until we have a QB that can take advantage of their strengths. I really paid close attention to Ginn in the Ravens game, and he was getting open. I think Bess is going to be a good receiver also, and Cam is a lot better than I thought. It would be great to get a T.O., Chad Johnson type in here though!

i would settle for a Chris Chambers type. I think good receivers make plays and if a qb can get you the ball you shiould take advantage of it. Chambers did not have that luxury here. I give props to camirillo for exceeding expectations. Ginn still hasnt had a td this year and he has had touches.

The problem is that Cam could have added depth in some manner and he is the one who put his faith in a broken down qb coming off of a bad season.

At the beginning of the season, if you said we would be 2-4 after 6 games, I don't think anyone looking at the team objectively would be shocked. This team has talent, but is lacking in several areas. I like the way this FO is building a foundation and I think we will continue to see talent improvement every chance we get.

Hugo, Isn't it the job of the coaching staff to make sure your players are fit and ready to face the rigors of an NFL season. IMHO that was the single biggest failure of the past regime, to go to Washington first game and wilt in the heat of the fourth quarter and overtime was totally unacceptable. The Club Med. training camp they ran was a major contributor to the amount of injuries endured by this team. Again IMHO.

Good post. BTW, still think ronnie brown is a top 5 back, lol

Ginn isn't the type who breaks tackles. He scores with either a quick slant with a strong armed QB getting the ball to him quick and spiltting the seems, or running by someone with a QB that can get the ball there. I don't see him getting too many TD's catching 10-15 yard in routes, with the corner, linebacker, and safety on him because the ball takes so long to get there.

In the NFl you have to actually make plays with players in front of you and so far Ginn cannot do that.
