Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer is at the top of that list for Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and General Manager Jeff Ireland as he interviewed today for Miami’s vacant head coaching position. He is the fifth candidate to interview for the job vacated by the firing of Tony Sparano on December 12th, following Joe Philbin, Jeff Fisher, Dave Toub and interim Head Coach Todd Bowles.

If Fisher takes the Dolphins job, this is likely the last interview.

Tough choice if one of these candidates has blown them away in the interview but seems Fisher will take the prize if he accepts.

oh please no, i want an offensive minded coach

I'd be happy to land Zimmer. I'm fine with Fisher and I believe he's a very good coach, but as soon as Zimmer was mentioned I was excited about that possibility. I really think he'll make a good HC somewhere, and I think he's ready to be one.

at this point I just want them to pick a guy and name him HC so he can start scouting the free agents and working on the draft, not to mention putting a nice coaching staff together.

Ozzy rules!!

If we are looking at Defensive minded coaches, why don't we look at Nolan first?

I really think people put too much stock into whether a coach is defensive or offensive minded. Just because they coach one side of the ball doesn't mean the other side will be garbage. Tomlin was a DC before the Steelers hired him, Billick was a great OC in Minnesota and won the Superbowl in Baltimore because of his defense and running game. Bill Belichick was a defensive coach too. I just want a good coach who will hire a good staff and the rest will take care of itself.

Let's see Fisher or Zimmer's staff before we say the offense will be ancient-looking
