Dolphins releasing Suh 'under consideration'
5593.jpg

One NFL official told the Miami Herald the Dolphins releasing DT Ndamukong Suh remains "under consideration."

The source reportedly didn't say whether the move is likely or unlikely, merely that it's being considered. The Herald reported in February Suh would likely be designated as a post-June 1 release if cut, which would save the Fins $17 million under the salary cap. $8.5 million of Suh's $17 million salary becomes guaranteed on March 19. Suh turned 31 in January and hasn't missed a game since 2011. He would be an extremely hot commodity on the open market.

Ozzy rules!!

p.s. I just don't see it but who knows

I don’t see it because it would be viewed as admitting that the Suh signing was a mistake and that the team really isn’t that close to contention.

Since I also think the signing was a mistake and that this team is overrated and in need of a tear-down/rebuild, I’m good with it. But it would go over like a lead balloon with a majority of the fan base.

And this is a team that signed a has-been (or never was), retired quarterback and paid him 10 million dollars simply because the powers-that-be couldn’t concede that the season was over when the starting QB went down. No way they actually start cutting big contracts now and calling it a rebuild, even though long-term the team would be better for it.

If they're gonna get rid of Landry, James, Suh, etc. then they better draft a ****ing QB in the first round. Full rebuild or keep all of them.

I am fully down with a full rebuild btw. This team has very little to be hopeful for. I have no interest in being the 2017 Buffalo Bills.

The team has just been plugging holes instead of building from the bottom up. Amazing how the Rams just traded two players clearing millions while getting picks in return. We're 20mill over and will have to cut players to get under while getting NOTHING in return

Ozzy rules!!

The article is wrong in that it would "save" us $17M. The post-June 1st cut simply defers the money from 2018 to 2019. Either way, the money is guaranteed and we are paying Suh at least $26M. If you are going to pay someone $26M, why not make him play for one more year? Its not like we could sign better players with the "savings" we would get this year.

Lets get a few things clear.

1. Miami needs cap now
2. Even if you post June 1st Suh . . . You do not get that cap relief until June 2nd, so that cap number still stays with us throughout free agency.
3. If you cut today the free cap space is only 3.9 million with a whopping dead cap hit of 22 million.
4. Nothing would surprise me with these idiots running the show

Because Ross doesn’t have to cut him a 17 million dollar check to play this year.

Cause T Bum ruins teams. Ross is a moron giving him a shot after killing the Jets. This team will never win a super bowl til Ross sells and T Bum gone.

Makes zero sense. He’s overpaid but it’s not a good time to cut him and at least he somewhat lives up to his price tag with consistent all pro effort.

Keep on mind that nothing this freaking team does ever makes any sense. If it did we wouldn't have been this bad for so long. All they ever do is whatever seems to feel good that day. No vision or real plan but yet here we are every freaking day hoping things will turn around for us. I guess we like pain
