With Scott Linehan now gone to St. Louis as head coach, the Dolphins will be looking for a new offensive coordinator. They're also talking about bringing in a defensive coordinator. Nick Saban has been talking to former Saints defensive coordinator Rick Venturi about a position, possibly taking over running the defense from Richard Smith and Will Muschamp. Saban and Venturi are friends. Saban has also spoken with former Texans coach Dom Capers about a position. As for offense, the Dolphins will be challenged to find someone like Linehan. They would be wise to take a look at former Bills coach Mike Mularkey. He's from South Florida and would love to be back in that climate. Mularkey walked away from the Bills job last week when he decided it was a no-win situation. Part of the problem was that the Bills don't have anybody at the top making football decisions who has done it during the cap era. It's believed former Bills coach Marv Levy will make those decisions now that he's in charge. He'll have input from general manager Tom Modrak, but Modrak lives in Florida, so he's not in the building every day. It's not a good situation, which is why Mularkey walked away and others who looked at the job passed. By the way, word is Mularkey had problems with some members of his defensive staff. They bad-mouthed him behind his back to the players, which led to friction. That's why he fired them before he walked away. Mularkey inherited some of them, which is always a problem. Mularkey will get back in as an assistant and then he'll get another head-coaching chance. Miami could be the chance to start that process rolling.

Getting Mularkey would guarantee 2 easy wins against the Bills next year IMO...

He knows their personnel too well.. Plus, never underestimate the revenge factor.. He wouldnt hold back against the Bills. It could be ruthless..

Chambers might rack up 600 total yards against the Bills alone.. (2 games)

Maybe he'll pull a Greg Williams but on the offensive side of the ball. How nice would that be. Greg Williams has been wonderful with the Skins. If Mularkey could help us and our Offensive I would be all for it.

I have nothing against hiring Mike Mularkey....

Except for the fact that he smells like decomposing Buffalo innards....

PHINZ RULE!!!

The whole defensive coordinator thing is surprising to me. Looks like Saban never rests on anything.

Maybe the Bills will hire Dom Capers as their head coach too. Then we can really count on 2 wins a year.

My opinion on this is, if mularkey can turn Kordell in to a pro bowl player. Then bring him in.

True. Just think what he could do for Gus. ;)

Yup, and from a fans perspective I wouldnt want it any other way....!!

I have no problems with Mularkey. I think the Bills are making a mistake letting him go, but their loss could be our gain. Mularkey on this staff with the offensive weapons like Chambers, McMichael, Brown, Williams, and Booker could be great. Remember, Mularkey didn't have a tight end or a line to work within Buffalo. He has both down in Miami. We still need a qb, but I doubt we go into next season without addressing it.

I agree on all of the above.
