"It's gotta be the suit," safety Gibril Wilson said, referring to the source of Davis' stellar performance, which featured a 23-yard interception returned for the game's first touchdown.
Davis gambled and stepped in front of a pass intended for Bill receiver Lee Evans to corral the first interception of the rookie's brief professional career, and his first pick-six since high school.
After the game, Davis was so proud of his first big NFL moment he couldn't stop clutching the ball. In fact, he did postgame interviews with it.
"It was the route. I knew the route could be coming and if it came I was going to take my shot," said Davis, the Dolphins' first-round pick who has a reputation for gambling. "I saw him plant his foot and jumped the route I knew that that particular route was one they used to start their rhythm."
For the first time this season the Dolphins secondary got into a rhythm, picking off three of Trent Edwards (16 for 26 for 192 yards and one touchdown) passes.
