I found this article on ESPN and didn't know which forum to post it on as it talks about our current corners and the draft.

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afceast/0-7-114/Dolphins-could-stand-to-upgrade-both-corners.html

In it it talks about how our secondary gave up more passing yards than any other team to the offense's right side, (the defense's left and also Will Allen's side.) Also it talks about Eric Greens 9th worst rated yards per attemp at 9.3.

The Dolphins allowed an NFL-high 1,719 yards on passes to the right side of the field -- the defense's left side. Part of this could be attributed to the Dolphins trusting Allen in single coverage and rolling help to Goodman, but they surrendered 572 fewer yards to the other side of the field.

Here are the most passing yards allowed to a defense's left side:
In a previous blog, I wrote that KC Joyner thought the Dolphins' secondary suffered a blow when it lost Goodman.
Among corners who faced 30 or more passes last year, Green ranked ninth-worst at 9.3 yards allowed per attempt. Goodman gave up 6.7 yards per attempt, Miami's stingiest average.

Just by looking at these numbers I am really hoping we select 2 corners in this draft. Not only are the CB's on this team average to say the least, but we could lose 3 of them to free agency. I know many people say that you can overcome bad corners with an excellent pass rush, but your pass rush is not going to get to the QB everytime, and sooner or later with bad or even average CB's, the WR's in our division will kill us.

I also think having a shutdown CB on one side of the field will greatly help our pass rush. Now Im not saying there is a for sure corner in this draft who is capable of this feat, but I would at least like our FO to draft a couple players who may have the abilitly.

Oh how I long for the days of Madison and Surtain!!!!!

All the CBs in this draft are Average to say the least too. We wouldn't really be upgrading with any of them.

Butler is a 2nd round talent being talked about in the first round. The rest of the guys are a gaggle of decent but not great. If we take 2 guys that are around the same talent level, as opposed to some OLBs who can really make a difference on this team, that will be bad.

I'm calling it right now, Butler is going to be an NFL stud.

Sean Smith is big (6'3") and fast (4.43 at his pro day workout) and i think we pick him in the second round.
Doesn't this belong in the draft forum?
Larry English
Sean Smith
Kenny Britt

Vontae Davis is going to be the 25 pick in the draft and he will help us out alot

We have a bunch of cans of spam with the exception of Will Allen and you say nobody in the draft is an upgrade. Most scouts think this is a verygood draft for corners. Corner's in this draft talentwise do not drop off as fast as the linebackers. I dont see the linebacker quality as better than corner.

listen no one on here is a scout and can project the ind of a career players will have any db can be a star with the right coaching

It's a shame there's no real 1st round corners this year, yea there's projects but no sure thing....however LB's are a different story and while we need both, if the QB is on his *** your worries are fewer, so I think corners will be addressed later in the draft.
