Bush, who is expected to start Friday for what will be his first preseason action, is in an interesting situation. He’s a known NFL commodity — but lacking a body of work as an every-down back has put Miami’s running game into a state of unknown.

Can Bush handle a full workload? Can Thomas make an immediate impact as a rookie? Will Lex Hilliard or Kory Sheets make a jump as NFL prospects? Even coach Tony Sparano still has questions about what to expect.

“There’s no question about it,” said Sparano, asked about the uncertainty in the running game. “I mean, I’m seeing more out of them every day in practice, but I really need to see it in the games at a consistent level.

“It’s hard because you’re running out of quarters, but we’ve got to see it. We’ll get them out there again this week. We’ll play some of these guys and see what we see.”

Sparano isn’t willing to say how much Bush will play, considering he needs to also evaluate other running backs, but you can figure to expect to see him for a few series.

I'm pretty nervous about the RB position because if they are ineffective, the offense won't be worth a darn. I mean, Henne making over 40 pass attempts a game? LOL

man I hope the o-line and Thomas can show something in preseason, or its going to be check down city all year.

I hope Henne answers the call this year . . . but I have NO DOUBT in my mind that we have 2 solid Rb's in Bush and Thomas. There effect in the passing game are going to open up the holes in the running game. Mark my words, the running back position is more than fine.

if one of them end up missing signficant time, this team is screwed...should of resigned brown

I just don't think you can draft a running back in the 2nd round in this day and age and not expect him to be #1 or #2 on the depth chart. I'm watching teams with Craig Cooper and Damian Berry as their #3 RB's . . . I don't think we are being out of line by having a Hilliard, a Sheets or a Grigsby win that job.

If Reggie was brought here to be the guy and Thomas was drafted in the 2nd round . . . Miami has its 2 bell cow runners on this team, no need to carry a Ronnie Brown . . . and there will be some hungry running backs looking for work if one of our guys go down.

Well I sure as hell hope they are, considering they, you know, didnt pick up anyone else.

this is moot if the o-line doesn't block better....we know Bush can run, DT did it in college, but if the defense is in our backfield on every play we won't get to see these guys do squat
