Dolphins curb rookie hazing

Thank God. Its a bunch of counterproductive, juvenile BS. Good riddance to stupid behaviour.

You mean Pouncey's draft day tweet, right?

I agree. But, There are many people (not just athletes) who never really leave lJr High.[/QUOT

Unfortunately many of them are good at football, too bad they have the maturity of a small puppy.

Maybe Im too evolved or clueless but I never got any of these idiotic haxing rituals. My infantry unit used to play a lot of those stupid games , I never participated felt it was a sign of maturity to not do such idiotic things. Once was grabbed because they were going to give me a so called pink belly for my birthday amazing how a punch to the throat stops such silliness.
The issue seems minor but what happens when a guy doesn't want to participate. I remember Dez Bryant getting flack because he wasn't carrying anybody's pads. I would never carry any jackazz's pads or bring them a damn meal nor would I have anybody do those things. Im not in the NFL though which might explain my opinion.
These rituals do little except make the vets fel better about them selves .
While I would never participate, and have never participated in such rituals, I see
them as a part of life to be dealt with. Deal with them and drive on. It's not that hard.

I have never been hazed other than being poked fun at, but you take it and drive on.
People know not to lay their hands on me, mainly because I wouldn't think of laying
hands on them. Being big helps too.

I don't think hazing is an issue really. I never have. It only goes as far as the hazee lets
it go. I think that speaks to that persons character if nothing else.

I had a lot of experience with both sides of hazing in college. I pledged a fraternity and later was pledge master who oversaw the festivities involving new pledges. This was long ago before activities such as paddling and road trips where outlawed. It was extremely childish and a little sadistic but all in all it was a test of character as GB says. it wasn't what happened to you but rather how you responded that mattered. Kind of a way to eliminate the weak like Martin for example.

Times have changed.

I would never participate in such a thing for a frat, but, it's voluntary, so,
I have no issue with it.

You guys are right it was voluntary. That fact was many of my buddies from our High School football team all joined the same frat in order to dominate the frat football league ... which we did.
Peer pressure I guess was what made me do it a plus a desire to continue playing football competitively.

Enough about me back to the thread.

if this team were hazing people and winning playoff games, I'd lament the loss of the haircuts and hazing. However, this team has done jack **** since these childish mannerisms started up (i'd be curious as to what extent of hazing happened under shula and JJ). so yeah, the annual hazing rituals didn't add to the team or help create an environment that contributed to significant winning, so I for one applaud a move towards professionalism.

As long as the hazing isn't physically/mentally hurtful, but constructive in its approach, it can be useful...but I'm talking about Chief's Initiation in the Navy...FAR CRY from this crap they were doing in the locker room. That s*** had no purpose but to humiliate and "toughen" somebody up, in a ridiculous way.

It didn't affect our play. Not addressing the LT position last year is what affected our play.. Come on.

Yes, losing two starters (because of childish acts by Incognito and childish reactions by Martin) turned a bad line into an epically disastrous line. Yes, LT was a big problem (RT too), but the culture of that offensive line last year was a big problem and it showed on the field.
