Sturgis wasn't great last year. Given.
I'm not throwing him under the bus yet. Kickers are streaky animals. I'm definately willing to give him another shake this year.

Over reaction? LOL
Cutting Carpenter after a few bad games and then using a 5th to draft a new kicker was the over reaction IMHO.
I hope Sturgis becomes an All Pro but he has been average at best.
The team is bringing in kickers to compete with him because there are concerns...
No one is flaming Sturgis because he is doing the best he can. Is that good enough? We shall see.

He's also injured. I really don't think anyone brought in is anything but a camp body although i would welcome an actually competition. i'm not sold on him but for now he's the guy come opening day. Hopefully he will prove us skeptics wrong.

To me all this does is reinforce why you don't draft a kicker unless he an obvious freak like Stan Janikowski. I hope Sturgis is the guy but I question if he would have been kept over Carpenter if he had been a free agent. What I think should have happened last year is a few free agents should have brought in to compete and the best man wins the job.
