DOLPHINS CUT RYAN, ADD BARTON
Posted by Michael David Smith on September 12, 2008, 11:47 a.m. EDT
The Miami Dolphins have claimed offensive tackle Kirk Barton off waivers from the Bears and released tight end Sean Ryan.
The team hasn’t made an announcement about it, but Ryan told the Miami Herald he was ”no longer with the organization” as he cleaned out his locker, while Barton confirmed to the Canton Repository that he’s going to Miami.
The Bears selected Barton out of Ohio State in the seventh round of this year’s draft. Ryan, mostly a blocking tight end, was in his first season with the Dolphins after playing two years with the Jets and two before that with the Cowboys. This week’s signing of Casey Cramer, who can play both tight end and fullback, made Ryan expendable.
