It seemingly happens all the time. A team has quarterback Tom Brady and his New England Patriots on the ropes, en route to a certain loss, only to have Brady rally his guys and pull out a head-scratching victory.
It happened last week against Cleveland. Brady rallied his team from a 26-14 deficit in the final 2:36 to record a 27-26 victory. And to a certain extent it happened seven games ago against the Dolphins. Brady engineered a second-half turnaround that saw his Patriots outscore the Dolphins, 24-0, in the second half to claim a 27-17 victory.

The game is never over with this guy. It puts a lot of pressure on the pass defense, even though New England is supposedly vulnerable right now with tight end Rob Gronkowski out for the season with a knee injury.
"I refuse to answer any question that says 'vulnerable' in it due to the fact of what happened earlier this season," linebacker Dannell Ellerbe said. "Tom Brady is Tom Brady, a future Hall of Famer. Everybody knows the type of player he is, the throws he can make."
The Dolphins (7-6) have a healthy respect for Brady and the Patriots (10-3). They've lost to them seven consecutive games. When the Dolphins host the Patriots on Sunday they know they'll have to do one thing -- finish the job.
"We know we'll be able to play with them the first half," cornerback Nolan Carroll said. "The second half we need to be able to come out and finish."
Opposing quarterbacks have a 76.1 passer rating when they play the Dolphins. That number rates third-best forNFL pass defenses.
The Dolphins' 40 sacks, led by defensive end Olivier Vernon's 11.5 sacks, are fifth-best in the NFL.
The Dolphins' 15 interceptions, led by cornerback Brent Grimes' four interceptions, are tied for fifth-best in the NFL.
The Dolphins, whose defense has a takeaway in every game this season, seems as prepared as they have ever been to face Brady, the future Hall of Famer and tormentor of Dolphins pass defenses.
They have a good set of bookend pass rushers with Vernon and Cam Wake (7.5 sacks). They have a good inside pass rush among defensive tackles Randy Starks, Paul Soliaiand Jared Odrick. The linebackers and safeties catch a break because they don't have to deal with Gronkowski. And the cornerbacks are playing the best they've played all year.

That kind of cunning is why Brady remains perhaps the NFL's most dangerous player, and why the Dolphins have to remain wary of his skills. Everybody in the NFL can rattle off the keys to beating Brady and the Patriots. But few can execute.
"He is human like everybody else," defensive end Cameron Wake said. "You just do your best to make him uncomfortable."
The Dolphins' pass defense thinks it's ready to battle Brady for 60 minutes, unlike in that loss earlier this season.
"Our defense didn't stand up," safety Jimmy Wilson said of the second half. "They rattled off 14 points quick on us and they never looked back. We've been beating ourselves up about that, not finishing the second halves. To win in December that's what we're going to have to do, finish the tight games in the second half."

Agreed,finishing is critical,but the Dolphins defense seems to be licking their chops over something else.

Here's why teams usually play a division team tougher the second time around.When you win a game it's hard to fix what isn't broke but when you lose like the Dolphins did vs the Pats you go over game footage not counting the entire season footage from other teams.

Also the Dolphins pass defense was ranked 25th or 26th the last time we faced the Patriots,they are currently ranked 13th.Our rushing defense is 23rd.
 
In the many years of watching the Dolphins play Tom Brady the one thing I've noticed above all things is that if you get to him early...knock him down, sack him (pressures don't effect him) you can effect him for the rest of the game. He gets jittery when he gets hit early. Now Brady has been sacked 36 times this year which is pretty high for him but he's also had plays where he seemingly has 5 seconds to throw the ball. Pressure up the middle is especially effective against him. I think it may have been the Jets game where we had OV lined up over the center, Jordan at DE and OV came right up the middle for the sack. May have been a double A-gap blitz.
 
I know we can score points. Tannehill and the boys can go downfield. But we have to stop them from scoring. This game will be on our defense. Tanny can't outscore Brady, but the D can affect that. Pressure all game long. Extra pressure in the 4th qtr.
 
I really think whats going on here is what ever game plan Coyle has presented the defense has bought into.Somethings up IMO.
 
The Patriots don't have a lot of Offensive weapons without Gronk. We need tight defense to stop Vereen, Amendola and Edelman. If our D-line can stuff the run and also get the occasional sack on St Thomas, we could be very hard to beat.
 
The "Brady Riddle" is easy to solve... get rid of the damn refs
 
Our defense thankfully is not afraid of Brady but that info will not be let out for those media hounds to plaster everywhere...

I'm so hoping for a win after losing the last 7 but it wont be easy. Doesn't matter who they're missing, as long as Brady's playing they're hard to beat. I don't know if our defense is up to the challenge.

Yes we do catch somewhat of a break for not having to face Gronk. BUt lets not act like he tore us up the first game we played. We held Gronk in check and most TE's we have faced this year.
 
What's been frustrating for the Dolphins against the Patriots is how Miami has shot themselves in the foot. Last year, Thigpen fumbled a punt, leading to an early 7-0 lead, and ultimately, Miami was chasing that 7 points the whole game and eventually wore us down. However, you can't think "don't make mistakes", because that thought process leads directly to making mistakes.

"Do Your Job" just needs to be the mantra this week. Don't look over your shoulder, don't 'wait and see'. Just do your best to dominate the match-up in front of you and play the game.

"Stop thinkin', kid, you're hurting the team".
 
The Brady Riddle is easy to solve but hard to implement: knock the crap out of the whiny prissy maggot at every opportunity. When teams have done that he gets the happy feet in the pocket and accuracy goes south. Tommy no likey touchy.
