This offseason the Miami Dolphins have used a lot of the team's resources to beef up the defense, and there's a very simple explanation why.

Last year the Dolphins defense was ranked 15th in total yards allowed, giving up 329 yards per game in 2008.That's middle of the pack, which means more work is needed. Even though the Dolphins defense recorded 40 sacks (8th best in the NFL) and 18 interceptions (also 8th best), there's still plenty of room for improvement.

i like some stuff i see.... still am curious on that ILB spot next to Crowder.

pumped to see how this secondary pans out!!!

I think Omar needs to have his head looked at. Our entire defense basically stayed the same except for FS and CB, making CB the only position a little tuff to call. And who does Omar go with, Jason Allen. You have got to be kidding me. Way to blow the only chance you had at writing a legitimate depth chart article. Based on what we have seen from Jason Allen's career there is no way he is going to beat out Vontae Davis for the starting corner spot opposite of Will Allen. Hell, IMO Jason Allen is gonna have a tough time making the team, let alone be a starter. If he is cut, which there is a distinct possibility of happening, he may go down as the Fin's #1 all time draft bust.

Until that happens, that "honor" belongs to Jamar Fletcher.

huh?

This isn't his prediction, it's the way the depth chart is looking right now. Which is exactly the way he should have written it.

He has spent 3 years in the league, and has truly done nothing as a player, as a #1 draft pick that is unacceptable. And I don't want to hear "He has to learn a new defense each year, it's not his fault." Yes, it is. He has all the physical talent in the world, but has air between his ears. During crunch times in games he is constantly reverting back to his old crappy college and high school techniques and constantly getting burned.

As for not making the team this year we carried 5 CB's on last years game day roster. They were a combination of Goodman (who is gone), Lehan, Allen, Jones, Allan, and Thomas.

By looking at this years roster we have 7 possible candidates to fill those 5 roster spots. They are Will Allen, Eric Green, Sean Smith, Vontae Davis, Nathan Jones, Joey Thomas, and Jason Allen. Looking at this list I see Jason Allen as 1 of the odd men out. As one of the bottom feeders on the list for playing time I just think he will not make the gameday roster. I feel if he isn't making the gameday roster Parcell's and Co will cut him and use the roster spot for someone who they feel is a better project. Now he may be just as talented as Jones and Thomas, but they are both players who this FO brought in, not someone who was a leftover from the Saban-Mueller days, and because of this he may be given his walking papers. Which would classify him as one of the biggest busts in Fins history.

Really, if this isn't a prediction then how did he get the Fin's depth chart. I looked up our depth chart from the official web site and it says, and I quote.

"The Miami Dolphins do not publish an updated depth chart during the off-season. Please check back during the 2009 preseason."

Jason Allen and Jamar Fletcher are who they are.... Wannstedt and Saban were the clowns for choosing them with the first round pick.
