The forum has talked a lot on keeping or moving players as well as how much we should spend on our own and in free agency. Here's a list of what we have committed in cap space for our top guys this year.

Suh- $28.6M

Tannehill- $11.6M

Albert- $10M

Pouncey- $10M

Wake- $9.8M

Grimes- $9.5M

Cameron- $9.5M

Jones- $8.2M

Coples- $7.7M

Jordan- $6.2M

Jennings- $5.5M

Misi- $4.8M

Mitchell- $3.5M

Brice McCain- $3.5M

Past this, we get to Parker, James on their rookie deals and out long snapper who Father Time forgot about.

Suh will be here next year at a reduced $15M as will Jones at $8M. We have two locks for 2017

Coples, Jordan, Jennings, Misi, Mitchell and McClain will not be, although there is some room to discuss. Doubt any of the six will be here in 2017.

Tannehill will likely stay as will Pouncey, although some fans don't want them to. Add in Cameron with a restructure.

Albert, Wake and Grimes may stick this year but, few fans see them being here in 2017.

Quick recap on our top 14 paid players. We have two everyone wants to keep. We have three most want to keep. We have three few want to keep. And we have six very few have interest in.

Not a very pretty picture.

It just means that we cant be the off season free agency champions again. I am ok with that, we need to be building through the draft not through free agency. Retain our talent and fill in depth through free agency. As right now we are getting talent through free agency and filling in depth through draft, it's just backwards and will never lead to success

I can create 17 million the team can use by simply doing the following:
Release: Coples, Jordan, Jennings, Fox, Mitchell, Denney and Taylor.

I would try to trade Grimes and if not cut him.

From there, I could restructure Suh and extend Wake and Cameron which could double that 17 million.

The cap is fine and Miami has much flexibility as always.

Not worried about cap space at all, worried about who to spend the money on.

Sadly I highly doubt suh restructures under any circumstances. Why would he honestly

Pretty sure he has a clause in his contract already that if the team wanted to it cuts his 28 million cap hit down to around 15 million and adds guarenteed money onto the back end of the deal.

This is a VG read on Suh's contract with figures on a restructure this year which I posted last year. IMO, the restructure makes no sense for the future of this team. I do not see the need to do anything this year but, to take the $28M hit. The author points out that guaranteed money is over with in 2017 when the hit is reduced to $15M. We would still be on the hook for the prorated bonus of $5M a year, $10M in 2018 but that's it.

Suh will be 31 in 2018, and we would have options of a brand new deal with guarantees, trading or cutting him. As you can see in the chart, we do not have any option if we do what many think we now should.

I do not see any need as we can free up $40M or so with doing nothing. A restructure now would be a mistake.

Why wouldn't he? It is not a pay cut. He is getting money up front actually.

It more about the Dolphins wanting to commit more cash to him. Not sure they are going to want to do that when we still have 20 million to spread over the life of his contract. Its not that easy unless you want to be committed to 20-25 million for a 32 year old defensive linemen a few years down the road. Not sure we need cap space that bad.

Agreed, doesn't make sense to mortgage more of the future for a player that will be on the downside of their career.

Done-taken care of. We were roughly 6 million over-that's cutting 46.7. We probably don't save that much, so call it 40 minus the 6 and we have roughly 34 million to play with. We can replace all of their production for a fraction of the cost.

Cutting Wake would be the most classless move we could make. He's put his heart and soul into this team, wants to restructure, and get back to top form.

Looks like there are some insta-releases on there no doubt about it. Coples. Jennings. Mitchell. top guys to go. Dion Jordan I'm iffy on... maybe Gase or Joseph has an idea where they could use him. Not this bull**** switch him around, gain weight, lose weight bs. Restructure Jordan absolutely! Wake said he will/wants to restructure. I'm unsure what to do about Grimes. I'm leaning towards cutting him and bringing in youth with potential, AT LEAST 2 free agents. After that, we need to trim the fat- cut guys who don't make a ton but suck- Aikens, Taylor, Thomas, etc.. (that money isn't much but think, rookie deals of theirs- pays for incoming rookies to an extent)

Suh- $28.6M

Tannehill- $11.6M

Albert- $10M - Restructure $10 for an older OT who spends on the IR?

Pouncey- $10M - Restructure or try to trade and take the cap hit, Free Hernandez is too much baggage and way over paid for a OC

Wake- $9.8M - Restructure and keep, classy guy and right kind of leader for the defense

Grimes- $9.5M - 2 for 1 dump for his declining play and dump her for trashy mouth

Cameron- $9.5M - Restructure the Dolphins haven't had a TE with Cameron skills in eons. Another reason why Lazarfail was Lazarfail

Jones- $8.2M - Restructure or trade, watching bad angles and blown coverage overshadowed by helliously good stick plays, Dolphins need consistency out of the SS.

Coples- $7.7M - Who Jets cast-off?

Jordan- $6.2M - Please get busted for weed again and his entire salary and bonus is gone including dead money

Jennings- $5.5M - Bye

Misi- $4.8M - Bye

Mitchell- $3.5M - Bye

Brice McCain- $3.5M - Bye
