1) That Yeremiah Bell leads the team in tackles with 30. He's living up to my "Bob Saunders Jr." monicker.

2) That Joey Porter is tied for third in the league in sacks with 5.5 in 4 games. I guess he's not a washed up shell of his former self as some have suggested.

3) That the defense is holding opposing offenses to a 36% third-down conversion percentage. That's good for 11th in the league.

4) That the offense has converted 4 of 5 fourth-down conversion attempts. That's good for third in the NFL.

5) That the defense has accumulated 12 sacks in 4 games. That's good for 9th in the NFL. And what's make this even more impressive is the fact that 6 of the teams ahead of them have played 5 games.

6) That the Dolphins rank in the top 10 in both total offense and total defense.

Bell on pace for 120 tackles and Porter on pace 22 sacks. Neither will likely hold up to that pace (especially Porter) but that is impressive nonetheless.

All those are amazing...this team has bought into Parcells and Co's philosophy. this team will be one to watch out for THIS YEAR not next year

I thought about putting in projections, but I figured it wasn't worth doing after just four games.

Still, these numbers are rather staggering..and these are just some of the lesser known stats.

I didn't even include well-known stats like Ronnie leading the league in rushing touchdowns or Pennington's impressive passer rating.

You have to commend Joey Porter (and Bell) for his play this year. I'm a big critic of him, i never liked the signing, i hate his antics, but he has really stepped up so far. Keep it up JP.

I was looking at some of those stats this morning myself. It is nice to see.

Other interesting stats -
Miami leads the league in Red Zone TD conversions (well tied with Detroit, but they have only been there 4 times) at 75% with 9 out of 12.

Defense is 7th in league in Pts/G with 18.5

David Martin has had 9 receptions, 8 for 1st downs.

The David Martin turn around is huge. I still can't believe how many fantastically "clutch" (ahhh, hate that word but...) catches he has made this year. Martin used to be absolutely atrocious, now he's looking like a solid TE #2. That one catch he held onto Sunday was just insane, especially being a first down. What effort. Even if he does kick back to the 2007 Martin I really have to remember what he's done in these first 4 weeks.

Wait a few more weeks - those stats are just going to get better, as the botched first two games get diluted out. Our phins' season started in week 3. It's like night and day, something clicked.

Thank you, good post. that 6th fact impresses me a LOT.

You guys brought up some other great "did you know" stats in addition to the ones I listed.

I think I'm going to make this a regular weekly column over at realfootball365.com...it seems like a fun little exercise.

As one of Joey Porter's biggest critics, I must say that his play has really impressed me. I guess Joey isn't as washed up as I thought he was.

The D has definitely improved as the year has progressed.

They've been solid the last 2 games. As I've said before, this is my favorite Dolphins team in I'm not sure how long.
