Dolphins Digest

It still exists? I am from NJ, that reminds me of the days of going on my roof to move the attenna to get the philly market on the off chance they show the dolphins.

When I first subscribed, I was living out of state and the publication would arrive a week late. That used to always irk me, but I understood why. Needless to say, I did not sign up for another year. Not because I did not like the content, but because of the timeliness of the information.

Hey Kev, didn't you visit the forums too? I remember ya. :)
could have been me but it was probably my brother Michael he use to be a finheaven moderator i think he went by P4E around 2004. not sure which forum you meant ?

It would have been the DolphinDigest forum but now that I think about it, his username was kevmass. Sorry.

They still sell it. I get it still.

With the internet its a bit outdated but it has great pictures and stuff and it hasn't changed much

Mike, I just clicked on that link. I LIVED for DD back in the late 70's & 80's here in NC. I wasn't aware the publication was still around either. How is it? Is it worth the $40 sub price? If it's still as quality as it was back in the day, I'd happily subscribe. With the net, we don't need in depth game coverage but if cool photos, insider, etc I'd subscribe again. Nothing like the printed piece.

I mean same quality from back in the day. Most of the stories in it are the ones that are on MiamiDolphins.com from their in house reporters. But the publication hasn't changed much. If you follow the team online each day or couple days with fan-sites, twitter, and such you don't need it for news and insight. For nostalgia and for something to physically hold and read I still get it. I take it on the deck and will thumb through it and such.

If your expecting any breaking news or anything like that, those days are dead and you won't see it. But it has articles and such where if you avoid the MiamiDolphins.com articles then you get them here and its still pretty cool.

Lol this is a joke right? I thought that publication died years ago!
Yes it still is available. Like I said it comes once a month in the off-season and then every 2 weeks during the season.
Price is still the same for about the last 5 years.

And they send u a free dolphins calender.
I remember they use to send a dolphins book with every players bio and stats. It was about 500 pages. They don't do that anymore.

I use it mainly for the pre draft, post draft and training camp. Goes into detail on the battles that take place for each position. Who is the favorite and who is the underdog.

That was the media guide. Teams don't physically print them anymore they are all virtual and online

I remember I was in my early 20’s and bought a satalite TV. Not some little Direct TV Satalite, a big 8 footer that had to be installed with a concrete base in my back lawn. There’s not a lot of real estate in Southern California so it was a tight squeeze. I used to go through about 15 different satalites in the sky and about 35 different signals per satalite to find the Dolphins broadcast. I saw a local comercial for the Dolphins Digest and subscribed right away.

I couldn’t wait for my local Dolphins news as information was hard to come by and ESPN never gave me more than 60 seconds of Dolphins news and highlights even on the post game show. Internet was dialup and it took minutes to load up pages and there still wasn’t much to find in the Fins. I forget how many issues I got in my subscription but man I couldn’t wait for it to come. The draft review, season preview and weekly updates. I don’t know if it’s still around but it was my only source of real Fins info available.

Fast forward to 2006 and I found finheaven, I dont Post a lot but I’m sure if you went back you would see my wonderful post insights with Rodger Stabach and John Beck comparisons, Jay fielder and Jay Feely support posts. No matter the time or team I have had something to say and give my two cents all thanks to finheaven. I donated $40 anonymously early this year and suggest if you can afford anything you do too. There are so many apps out there to get news from but I love talking Fins football here. It won’t atay around forever if we don’t help and if you’re young it may become the Dolphins Digest of your time. Let’s keep this place going and try and donate a few bucks a year. I’m not a moderator or site developer, just a fan who appreciates going to a site by Fins fans for fin fans, otherwise we will eventually be posters in larger commet pages on the various articles out there and that world is a nightmare.
Great post bro. Amen.

I subscribed to this for quite a while but it often came late(after the next game) so I'd get an issue on Monday or so reviewing a game 2 sundays ago. I still loved it though as there wasn't much else at the time.

If my Dolphins Digest didn't show up before the game, I just knew we were F'ed.
